Got this baby instead 😬
Heck yeah!
Not an exact reference point but my watch guy offered me a 2014 explorer II black dial, with papers, for $7500. The new polar was also in stock at my AD. I think they’re $8200 or something like that. So something less than that for no papers
For MK II explore 1, no box no paper, assume in normal condition, I’ll probably start with 5.9 and work my way up. Low to mid 6 would be a fair deal, depending on the condition of the watch, service history etc.
I’ll add 400 for paper. Don’t care about the box as it has no value (to me), will probably throw in 50 just to smooth things over
Actually don’t know much about 16570 since I was never interested in one. But I think slightly more than what I would pay for the explore 1.
I bought both of these this year. I paid $6,200 for the 214270 (purchased new from an AD; got a little friend discount 😊). The price has been increasing as of late, but I wouldn’t pay over retail. It comes down to condition and completeness, and your negotiation abilities.
The 16570 Polar I bought was totally complete kit, 2004 with the SEL and no lug holes, and I paid $5,665 (I think, maybe it was $5,800). Same story as above, but I wouldn’t pay above $6k for the Polar, unless it’s a much newer one with 3186 movement.
Just started looking at Chrono24 and a few other sources. Prices are all over the place. Also got on AD lists, I guess it’s waiting time. But the above comments are very hopeful, thanks guys.
Yea wanted to add my .02 here too.
Be very careful about the source when it comes to used watches.
Deal with dealers that have a rigorous intake process and will make things right should any surprise occur. Ideally only deal with someone with a long history, even it means paying more - think of it as paying for insurance for the dealer to stake their reputation on the item.

Oh, I forgot to mention I got my 16570 Polar from one of the watch forums (either rolexforums.com classifieds or watchuseek.com classifieds, I forget, butni found it through the forum aggregator site called watchrecon.com). It’s usually the best way to get a good deal, but there’s lots of risk if you don’t know what you’re doing. I’d recommend checking out some shops in your area (or your client’s area) that sell pre-owned timepieces. You just might strike gold (erm...stainless steel 😊).
Definitely good advice. What are your thoughts on buying and selling using Chrono24? Any good and bad experiences there?
What L1 and M2 have already said, yea that’s my position too.
Check out DavidSW if you haven’t already - another dealer you can deal with directly.
