What do you guys think of Databricks? Do the support python and R? What are alternatives?

Yes, they do support both R and Python. It can be a good starting point as one doesn’t have to struggle with setting up Spark environment locally. Personally, I use docker to do this. If you are looking to dig deep into configuring a spark cluster, you have to complement with other sources and lot of hands on Big Data environments.
