Working with young, really smart people. Pretty good comp.
I'm learning much faster than I did in my last job (as a PM in tech), and I see a clearer & quicker path to increased promotions and responsibility
I’ve messaged you on chat! Can you please respond Bain & Company 2
The health insurance is nice as are all the doors opened by working here. Hopefully on my way out to better WLB in industry very soon.
Working with smart, passionate people
Seeing my recommendations (mostly) come to life and actually help companies with growth
Clear progression (as a minority woman, don’t need to second guess my performance or comp as much)
They pay me 1.5m a year and I haven’t even been in the work force that long
Partner with less than 60 hours per week ? Tell me where to sign :)
Claw machine. Hands down.
In no particular order (and not MECE):
- rarely been bored
- travelled the world
- lots of smart people to interact with (both colleagues and clients)
- comp has been great
- regular discussions with CxOs
- my problem solving, communication, and influencing skills are exponentially better than when I joined
I’m an Associate Partner. I’ve consciously decided to stay and make it to Partner; no exit opportunities have really caught my attention over the years.
Being on the leading edge and helping a diverse set of clients with their toughest problems. Developing people who work with me and helping them figure out WLB through ruthless prioritization. Building CxO relationships as someone else mentioned. Getting to focus some of my time on real passion topics. And I enjoy the challenge of giving tough love when needed to my clients ... not being a “yes man” but a true thought partner who challenges with good intent. It’s absolutely made me a better leader and strategic thinker.
While there are times when this job feels like a grind, there are so many more times that I am so excited about the rooms I get invited into. The impact I get to have. And the gratitude of my clients.
Thank you for such a thoughtful response! DMing you and would be really grateful if you can take out 5 minutes!!
Joined in COVID times.
I am grateful that I could develop much more ownership than I thought was possible.
The beauty of the up or out system is that you don’t have a manager that is less smart than you are because they are kicked out before making it to manager.
I feel that I am learning not only to develop ideas but to sell them, and to convince people. Which at the end of the day is the difference between having a promotion or no when you are in the industry.
What keeps me there is that I still have a lot to learn, when I will feel that It’s not about problem solving anymore but client development I will probably leave

Dont think up or out guarantees that but at least sets a minimum standard - I worked with a few junior members who I thought are much smarter than me
GAMMA MDP here (former data scientist) - we’ve built the best data science consulting business on the planet. It’s energising working with such brilliant people, on such fascinating topics. WLB is ok at ~60h a week, but I love the job so only find it’s a grind when I have to do things I don’t want to… which is almost never. Seriously, you can do whatever you want as long as it’s commercial. Oh yeah, and as someone that grew up reasonably poor, the money is outrageous… so I give back a lot to the people I love, and some to charity, which makes me feel good.
