What do you say to that calendar? Everything is planned including downtime, reading and sleeping (VC Marc Andreessen schedules every second of his day)

Methodically planning your day like that is a mental illness — no doubt

UP means UP from bed. They may be lying down watching news or a quickie 😜

Unrealistic. Where are all the double and triple bookings?

I had a mentor who did something similar. He told me he was not like that, but at some point got a high admin role and an assistant scheduled stuff for him. He kept telling the assistant that the were some times that shouldn't get touched (when he worked out or caught up with reading etc) but they kept getting pushed because something really urgent came up and there was this available time. So he opted to just add all those things in the schedule so it was no longer available. Worked for him.

What if he can’t fall asleep? Does he freak out

This doesn’t actually seem all that crazy though? The main difference from an outlook calendar is that he’s just noted when he wants to read or go to the gym. Noting your free time and when you want to go to sleep also isn’t a crazy thing to track

Part of my ideal morning routine is to schedule my calendar similar to this to plan my day. I’m more specific about the projects I’m going to work on, and don’t add blocks called “free” or “sleep” - I just leave them blank. I can’t possibly do it a week ahead. Often the plan goes out the window, but it’s a good reminder of the tasks I need to get done for the day, and reminds me to stop working on a project if needed to get to another important task. This also helps me because it puts boundaries on my last minute meeting availability. It also helps because it keeps a record of what I did and when.

The reminder alerts would drive me insane

I say: No, thanks.

I did this for years as a student and in early career. it helped me achieve my goals and track my progress. after working for a while, it seemed pointless to stay on top of this schedule, especially with WFH and not a lot of personal goals to achieve in this point of my life

Does he just teleport between meetings?

Looks lonely, where are the spontaneous nights out with friends, time with family, where are the open times to putter or clean? Also looks wealthy af — does this person outsource every maintenance element of life?

like

Every night has a couple hours of free time. Couldn’t that be for family and friends?

Where does he accommodate romping time?

Legit was wondering if that's why some of the blocks are censored out

Just one word- lol

That’s a sign of mental illness

You say free your boss reads “available for work”

Is there time in it to update the schedule

Im a die hard paper planner, I cannot stand the amt of alerts hitting my phone if I switch to google calendar. Digital planning has its place especially if you travel or schedule calls across different time zones but you’ll need an assistant to manage a digital calendar if gets more complex. Each week will have some changes to the next so it’s good to identify some discretionary time a few days out. I don’t view his calendar to be all that extreme. He doesn’t stay at office late and plans his free time to do other things like exercising.

Probably not a good thing that that calendar looks extremely relaxed and easy compared to mine. I miss have an EA to handle my calendar, that was nice.

I would love a calendar like this. From 7-5pm I am up to quadruply booked
