Once, on a case, I was up against opposing counsel that was just a loathsome individual. He employed guerrilla tactics. Actually managed to force an entire trial take place when the matter on the docket was purely pretrial. Had a whole expert witness tee'd up and ready to testify. We found out he and the judge were bosom buddies. He acted a complete and total ass at a deposition, cursed my client out, we had to force the deposition to end because of his antics. He filed a writ of ....

Ello fellow working class! I am curious to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to handle a coworker that has been nothing but horrendous to you and continually threatens to get me fired. It’s clear that management does not care. I can’t do what I want to do which is a solid KO, so I thought I was see if anyone has any suggestions on what I can do when I see this person in the office. Appreciate the feedback in advance!

I have a client lead that goes to my boss for every error that she thinks I make or for recommendation rather than coming to me. I’ve called her out on it and she said she will work to talk to me directly moving forward, but instead of that, she just cc’s me on the email to my boss now. Have you all had an issue like this? I’m not sure how to handle it.

I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. It creates dread and panic and overwhelming workload and a terrible attitude for her and I am speaking with her this week to start to shift her mindset. Any tips in navigating how to let go of this heavy idea of "responsibility"?

As mentioned before I have a good relationship with him but perhaps not a good working relationship

I’m interviewing and considering leaving the law and nice in-house job (work 20-30hrs/week, clocking out at 5pm, no evening or weekend work, comp $215k, doing mainly commercial, though not much mobility) for a business-side role within the cap markets team at a fund doing structured finance. Many unknowns, but comp will be at least $400 base, $200 bonus, soon managing a team and serious career progression, more hours/week (TBD how much), plus deal driven. Any thoughts on making this switch?

I am an incoming associate (awaiting bar results). I have already begun working as a law clerk and am already being given plenty of tasks to fill my time, which I’m grateful for. I am also fortunate to be in working in an area of the law that is personally fulfilling to me, so a lot of the work I do doesn’t feel like work. Here’s the thing: I do my absolute best. I give polished, clean work, and I always give my personal best. However, it seems like a lot of the tasks I do always get sent back..
