What do you think:” An Art Marketplace where artists can list their creations and match with owners of restaurants, pubs, bars etc. Basically organizing everywhere and whenever an artist want his/her exhibition. At the same time, owners cut costs of decoration and in case of selling they split”. Ahaha

I like it. Don’t see any holes to be poked upon thinking about it

Overall good idea, but what’s to stop a competitor from replicating this? Also most restaurants with high end enough art tastes will probably be able to do this themselves and the low end ones won’t give you much margin. Just some considerations to think about.

Thanks a lot for your consideration :), this is what I am looking for in this thread.

I totally agree that main competitors would be well structured offline places doing it by themselves. That’s why I would differentiate focusing on the platform marketplace experience and uniqueness to fight these offline giants.

Basically it came up in my mind because once I’ve been invited from a close friend to see his “art exhibition” and the same happened a lot of times having a lot of friends doing the same (and basically every art student, photographer etc etc do the same).

They rent a place, they put their arts and “try” to invite as much people as they can. However at the end only close friends and family are there.

So after the exhibition I was drinking a coffee in a bar on the same street, just few meters far and it was so crowded.
So I thought :” He should put his arts on these walls, imagine the impact and visibility”

Like - i am an artist and i find a coffee shop
In my neighborhood where my art can be hung and purchased? Seems like a lot of those sorts of places do that and I’ve never given any thought to how they got the art. Probably a cool idea but what is the incentive for the restaurant to use it aside from decorating?

I think it definitely sounds like a cool idea. The fee thing sounds interesting - they basically rent the walls and potentially make profit. Not to jump you on your own idea, but if the art purchase happened through your platform, it could make it super easy for buyers and if restaurants got a % or something, splitting the money that way.

Very cool! I never think of stuff like that, haha!

Would this be like indiewalls?

https://www.indiewalls.com

Thanks for sharing this link! Mhm, I find indiewalls more like a service compared to what I meant, and mainly a “Service” where you contact them as curators etc etc.

I was thinking something much more social and more marketplace where an artist fills his need of exposing and a restaurants/bars fill their needs of dynamic content, costs etc etc.

I would focus more on this “both sides needs” rather than a service like indiewalls

like

Like the idea.

An added value would be for a customer to purchase the art through the platform so everyone gets paid instantly. And the artist knows that there is a free space on the wall that needs to be filled.

Recently promoted to TL. But, I, along with 2 people, verbally accepted role 06/06 - given vague answers as to what the true comp was & when we would officially be moved. About a month later, we were told we’re being transitioned into the role but there was a hold up with People Ops about how the role is defined & that’s why we aren’t compensated yet. We were told that once things were in order, pay would be backdated to day of verbal acceptance. Is this legal to be in the role & not comp’d?
