There goes next year’s bonus.... https://www.fnlondon.com/amp/articles/ey-facing-4bn-lawsuit-over-nmc-health-audit-work-20201106
Can anyone provide insight to working at Holland and Hart? Also, when do parental leave benefits kick in? Is there a waiting period? Do they negotiate lateral bonuses for losing out on present firm end of year bonus? TIA.
I found out that a male friend from my start class received a comp adjustment and now makes more than me. I have an additional degree and am one year ahead in level (promoted earlier), but we otherwise have the same profile (campus hires). I’m happy for my friend and understand that comp looks different during a pandemic, but I can’t help but feel undervalued. I see how these increments can add up and contribute to the pay gap.
Dear recruiters - put your comp range in the email if you want a response. The Salesforce market is just so competitive that I’m sure just like all of you, I get dozens of inquiries a week. It just feels like a waste of everyone’s time if I don’t know what it is. Now that I’m actively looking it’s just hard to see where to start!
Non-political poll - how many non-billable hours have you logged so far this year? I’ll start: 143
What starting salary could I expect from Accenture, Slalom, and Deloitte? I have four years experience in public sector consulting, background and masters in arts fields. More details below
How much nonbillable time is too much? I’m a second associate at a midsized firm and I have 30-50 non billable hours each month. An associate at another firm told me this was really high. Thoughts?
What is the average salary for Manager 1 in EY
(First ever post) I originally I joined this app to learn from others in consulting on a variety of topics (gender perspectives, comp, tips/ recommendations). Ever since downloading, I see more hatred and people making judgements on others with little context. Consultants are supposed to problem solvers but instead of people sharing perspectives I feel I’m back on Twitter reading threads that only create hate. Anyone else feel that way?
Most billable hours in a day (within 24 hours)? Mine has been 20 and I’ve hit that 2x this year.
Laughing in billable hours
RSM senior con salary range in tier 1 or 2 city? In their technology consulting. Thank you.
I’m a 2017 associate in NYC biglaw. I logged approx. 2300 billable hours in 2019. Is that light, normal or heavy in the biglaw market for RE associates at my level? Thanks in advance for thoughts.
What are the salary levels in Big 4 consulting? From MBA stats, intro pay seems to be the same as MBB. But on FB, I’m seeing people say Manager level pay is lower than 1st year Consultant salary at MBB. Which is it?
My peers are not getting as much work as me. I pride myself on being a hard worker and a team player, but it’s getting out of hand. I have been working 80+ billable hours the past month+
How do you get billable work? Are you constantly knocking on doors & hunting it down? Or are assignments generally given to you? Do you ever have periods of being unable to find any?
I’ve never worked at a firm, only public interest and have no idea how to do billable hours.
Once a company says they are working on an offer for you, how long have you seen the actual, written offer take? I haven’t made a move in a long time so can’t even remember what this timeline is like. Imagine it might depend on salary/position, as well.
Fauci: “In an unlikely but conceivable turn of events, what if [a scientist performing gain of function research] becomes infected with the virus, which leads to an outbreak and ultimately triggers a pandemic? Many ask reasonable questions: given the possibility of such a scenario – however remote – should the initial experiments have been performed? Scientists working in this field might say – as indeed I have said – that the benefits of such experiments outweigh the risk” Was it worth it?
Would you say summaries are as effective for self help books like "the subtle art of giving a fk" and other similar books? I feel the books themselves ramble on too much on a side story only to tell a point that could be summed up in a couple sentences. Or am I just not getting good book recommendations for growth/development on mental well being and productivity
Anyone have tools they’ve given their parents to help them learn / be more comfortable with technology as they WFH? My dad has been struggling having to rely more on computers / technology since he has started WFH. He’ll call me to help, but oftentimes I can’t sit through and help him figure it out since I am also working. Usually I’d just do it for him since it’s faster but in the long run him not knowing how to do things is stressing us both out. Any recs on training tools, etc he could use?
Just rolled off my project and projects are coming to me and wanting to staff me. However, I have a job offer and will be putting my 2 weeks after November 12. Should I join a new project or reject everything and cruise on the bench?
What is the best certification to pursue in this area? Looking at SHRM-CP but want to learn more about others.
Any book recommendations to gift my cousin sister? She studied (masters) psychology and is a trained classical dancer.
I’m looking at changing careers from screenwriting to copywriting. How likely am I to get an internship/job at a good company without going to portfolio school? Or is portfolio school 100% necessary in order to land at the upper echelon agencies?
Curious...currently at 60% utilization PY. Some things on the pipeline but I don't feel particularly confident that them. What's considered dangerously low? Genuine advice?
Have any of you got points for not being upgraded? JW last night apologized that they couldn’t upgrade me this week because they’re super booked. Then gave me 10k points. Didn’t ask for them. Neat!
For new hires at Accenture, are they asking you to relocate if the job is listed for another city? Or can you stay where you are and remain remote/travel once that’s available?
Let’s start a conversation around parental leave - how is it at your firm? Does your firm do enough to support new parents? What changes can we make in our industry to better support working parents? Share your stories and thoughts!
Hi all! I’m an MBA Candidate with 3.5 years on H1B. What consulting firms are still hiring internationals among MBB and Big 4?
Taking some time off. Need some book recommendations. Some light interesting non-fiction. No self help or management books. Just interesting topics that won’t make me think about work.
Any folks from CLT / North Carolina here? What are some great attractions / activities to do with toddlers this time of year?
