What do you think is more stable in the current market (more recession-proof) - a job in a small boutique estate firm, or a legal position with government?

Government. I’m pissed I left to join a boutique firm. While the fed government was understaffed when I left, there was leniency with timelines and due dates, as well as recognition that everyone is burnt out. In the firm, it’s understaffed and no plans on hiring in anticipation of the looming recession. The extra work due to understaffing is labeled as a gift to bill towards the bonus. I’d go back to the lower paid govt gig any day.

For the first time in my life, I have been called 'unprofessional' and told that my tone was too harsh and inappropriate. This came from two separate people in an email response - because I sent out a reminder about our company expense policy, as requested by my manager. I think their responses are more to do with my position in the company (I'm the Finance Assistant in a department of 3) rather than the colour of my skin, but it sucks to even have that thought lurking in the back of my head...

Interested in getting out of the corporate grind and becoming a real estate agent. Seems like my work ethic would benefit me more here - Ive been promoted nearly every year for the last 6 years. I keep hearing about agents making $200k+ a year. I know the mortgage industry is slowing at the moment, but I’m guessing it would take me maybe a year to get my license anyway? Anyone have recommendations for online TX agent classes and/or brokerages? Or anyone immediately leave RE and hate it?

I had a break down in law school. I was briefly hospitalized and missed part of a semester. I feel guilty about it. I have issues, but looking back a lot of it was a combination of my existing alcohol use, depression, and immaturity. I have flashes of memories of me begging to be hospitalized because I felt so sad and afraid of failure. I don't know why I acted that way,. I don't like that person, and it's hard for me to imagine a world where I find peace despite my terrible behavior. Cont

Just had a final convo with the GOOD partner at my firm confirming I will be leaving after he asked me to consider staying. I know it’s the right thing to do but oddly feeling sad about it. I haven’t really had someone that believed in me like that. On the other hand the convo with another partner just reconfirmed my decision to leave (posted about that here a couple days back).

Not a Q but I'm worried that I annoyed the partner today. I asked him A LOT of questions cuz I'm a first year and don't want to screw up. I know I should group my questions so I don't keep going to him but what if the questions pop up cuz it pertains to new things that come up later? I can't really ask them all at the same time. I told him at the end of the day that I hope I didn't bombard him too badly and he just laughed and said it's okay. He's so nice I can't really tell if he meant it.
