I would get in as soon as possible. There’s a chance nobody will take you as a manager or will make you go back down anyways. Nothing in the incremental year of audit will be beneficial for FDD
Based on whats happening in the industry, looks like P1 advice was terrible. Curious what OP did and if he stayed a manager was able to laterally switch as a manager. Hearing that FDD isn’t taking audit managers as managers anymore but downgrading them to senior
It’s true. I give props to the FDD managers that were previous audit managers. The adjustment is just tough overall, but you’re held to more responsibility at the manager level.
But it’s not impossible. Personally, I’d take the challenge and worry about the rest later. No need to miss out on a promo or lose rank, that’s just a waste of time.
If you want FDD switch now. No one wants a manager that doesn’t know anything about FDD and is no longer willing to grind in a databook. That’s an honest perspective. Also if you happen to really jump over as a manager and are in a “manager” role how are you going to review things that a senior has put together when you don’t even know how to do it yourself
Also, one year additional work experience in FDD is truly valuable, whereas another year in audit isn’t. Get in there and start learning as soon as possible. That extra year will compound over time and pay bigger dividends throughout your career.
I switched to cmaas as s3 and made manager that year. You’ll be a better manager with another year of fdd under your belt. Just treat every engagement as a learning opportunity and express interest in promo after 6 months
Well cmaas doesn’t care lol. They shut down a lot of early promos again this year while offering triple referral bonuses… our leadership is honestly clueless
That may be possible possible if I knock the lights out but it’s not a bird in hand/ guarantee, being new to that service line I just assume a conservative timeline..
Makes the most sense to get to M1 and then come over, but keep in mind that many M1’s out of B4 audit do not come into FDD as a Manager and usually still have to spend some time at the senior level. Will payoff down the road that you made it to the M level for Audit.
If you can move now, do it. Easier to transfer as a senior and lower expectations.
Come in as a senior, much better and more opportunities down the road.

Good perspective!

Fet the promotion and then come, BUT keep in mind it will be a uphill battle and drinking from a firehose in terms of leading/managing deals.

Why wouldn’t you get promoted into manager within a year?

Get promo first. That’s an anchor for life.

I’m not referring to internal transfers.
