What do you usually bring to an interview?

A friend got me an interview at their firm that landed me a great job. What’s a good gift idea for my friend to say thank you? She’s a female in her late 30s. She’s fancy too so it needs to be something nice. Would prefer it’s under $500 but would consider spending more for a great gift! TIA!

Need to do an SQL test for an interview where I import provided data from excel/Google sheets and manipulate it. I can’t use my work SQL and I’m used to using SQL Server. Does anyone know of free SQL versions that I could use for this? Saw mySQL but it won’t work right on my computer and am looking at SQLite but it looks so different from what I’m used to.

Does anyone here work west coast hours in the east coast? I’m in final interview rounds for a role that I’m super excited about. They’re based in California and want me to work PST hours, but I’m on the east coast. I was initially fine with it because the recruiter said I’d typically be able to sign off by 6pm my time, but the hiring mgr mentioned feeling bad if it was close to 8pm my time and I was still working. I’m curious if anyone else works this schedule and if they do/don’t like it? Recs?

Where’s everyone applying to round 1?

I have a McK final interview next week - but I'm a nervous wreck already. The recruiter was saying that all my interviewers are friendly and nice people but I have a hard time believing that. I can't stop but think that this interview is my only way out of my current job. How am I going to survive till the end of next week?

I am being considered for a position at FAANG, and have spoke to the hiring manager couple of times already where she talked about the immediate expectations coming into the role and list of activities one might need to do. I also know there other folks interviewing. In order to make sure I am putting my best foot forward, I’d like to send a draft project plan of the list of activities I’d take coming into this role and how I’d like to prioritize them to let the team know I planning ahead CONTD.

Honestly curious, if you’re a hiring manager with 1 position to fill would rather hire someone who has a:

A) Good interview and is very (physically) attractive
B) Great interview but is average looking

- Great interview meaning they answered all the questions perfectly and bring highly relevant experience
- Good interview meaning it went well and you know they can do the job well but nothing super impressive
- Both candidates also have equally positive personalities
