A tuxedo t-shirt cause it says I wanna be formal but I’m here to party too
I’ve never had a Zoom interview. But I’ve had Teams interviews.
Underwear and a nice shirt.
No suit. Who in plain conscience would wear a suit to stay at home
Serial killers
Coach
Shirt jacket no tie
What would you wear to the in person interview?
It depends on the firm, you should ask your recruiter. I usually just wear a dress shirt, every time I wear a suit I’m told I don’t need to dress up (or it’s weird that I’m wearing a suit depending how candid they are)
No tie, no jacket
I’ve been wearing a nice blouse and blazer and haven’t gotten any comments
Pants or no pants. That is the question.
I just had one with a large corporate...came in full suit and they told me to lose the tie lol
Not pants
Button down shirt with rolled up sleeves or polo with a nice pullover. It’s the perfect balance
For recruiting? A suit. While your interview-era may be much more casual, wearing one will definitely help a lot with selling yourself as a candidate. I suited up for my BCG and EY interviews and it definitely helped my confidence/push the case to hire me forward.
EDIT: the Shirtf/tie/overcoat. Don’t worry about suit pants/shoes/belt
I got by with a nice polo. In the era of zoom interviews, I feel like this is the new norm unless you plan on suiting up everyday working from home too.
Nice top with jacket. Bottom does not matter- shorts!
Tie or no tie?
No tie, my recruiter told me that wearing a tie would make me look very junior. I went with a buttoned down and jacket.
Undershirt, cotton shirts, no camera
You need to know the company and audience. I no longer think it’s true in the “average” professional culture that it’s better to be over than under dressed, unless you are comically/inappropriately under dressed. At my boutique firm for example (PE advisory) I would laugh (not out loud) at a candidate in a suite for a virtual interview. You are in your own home, that just seems silly and unnecessary. Had an analyst on our team show up to a virtual readout with a PE firm and an IB in a suit and some of the other people were in t shirts. Personally I wear a golf shirt every day (and pretty much on the weekends too) and if I’m interviewing or presenting something really really big, a button down.
You could also throw on a Patagonia vest over your button down. Really show em you’ve been in the game.
Not what you’d like to
Tie and birthday suit
