That paying off my debt$ means working at a biglaw firm before I can do more interesting work elsewhere... and to watch out for golden handcuffs. I know a lot of the fishbowl convos are with biglaw people so far but honestly, I’d rather work on other smaller firm work, enviro work, amicus work, human rights work... not the shit that keeps the rich getting richer.

Diagnosed with ADHD at 40. Tried Vyvanse for a couple of months. It works in terms of depriving grogginess, afternoon post meal crash, and suppressing appetite (at times).

However, I still needed help planning/prioritizing my day,  listening and active note taking, and keeping myself accountable. So decided to replace meds with coffee. Also, the fact that most people on meds had to progressively increase their medication over time did not sit well with me. (cont'd)

I just wanted to hop on here and tell my story of what just happened to me these past 3 months. I returned to my job from maternity leave and was handed a ‘promotion’ and a lot more responsibility. The only downside was the numbers. I wanted to know what the pay increase was right off the bat and I got the run around of ‘we’re just happy to have you back’. Sorry, but that isn’t good enough for me. (Continued in comments)

I can’t get out. I’m a barred attorney looking to move into a JD preferred role. I don’t like being at a firm. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I have a client who has gotten in the habit of only calling my cell phone, without notice, rather than my office phone, always expects me to be available at a moment’s notice and often wants same or next day turnaround. To some extent I may be responsible in trying so hard to please, and he’s a top client but not my only of course. Any tips for bringing this relationship back down to earth without upsetting the apple cart? I’m tired of my days constantly being flipped upside down.

Hi everyone! I posted about this previously, but need guidance on how to handle. I work at a small firm who hired an office manager about eight months ago (manages two staff members). She does not have a college degree, obviously did not attend law school. When they hired her, one of the partners told me they paid her a salary which was only 10k less than mine, an associate attorney practicing for 4 years. They treat her like gold and act as if she can do no wrong. Cont…
