Hi guys, I need an advice. I have completed my salary discussion with TCS and awaiting offer letter. HR told me I will receive it in the first week of Jan. However before joining I am getting calls from projects in TCS who are asking my experience, notice period etc and some basic questions regarding my work as well. Please tell me is this normal? I have notice period of 60 days. Tata Consultancy
Sounds kinda like what I do now 😫
I can’t speak to Public Accounting, but in the government it can be quite a bit. pulling FINCIN, looking at bank statements and tracing payments, providing advice to United States Attorneys and Criminal Investigators. Lot of excel work and “translating” accounting matters to those who may not be versed in them
Honestly think it's all the same at its core. The fruits of your labor are just used for different things. Like criminal investigations vs getting a signed opinion.
No. No it’s not. Not at all. Different set of standards to follow.
I do litigation support (prosecution and defense), insurance work, investigation of employees, and also business income loss and valuations.
Had a former FBI forensic professor and he had a crazy exciting career. He’d be the one showing up to suspects houses and interviewing them
Forensic auditing sounds like cool!
How does one apply for such a position ?
It’s completely different from regular auditing in the government in the sense that there’s no accounting standards to follow. You use whatever investigative methods you can to build whatever narrative forms from what you collect.
As far as applying: usajobs.gov. Generally the FBI, IRS, and IG offices are good places to go. The pay is lower than public for sure but with the pension and healthcare it becomes pretty competitive. Research the ins and outs of a Federal Resume, because that’s what will get you past an initial screen
