This largely depends on what firm you are in, and what type of work within Ops Risk it typically is. There’s a large variety of work in these buckets. If you’re at a firm like OW, you can expect to be doing more strategy type work for large FS clients (think roadmapping and risk org framework development) whereas at B4 and ACN you can expect to be doing risk org implementations along with a flavor of some roadmapping. Where it gets reallly sucky is when you get into something like controls testing which is boring as hell. Overall, it’s interesting, but if you don’t know which direction to go in, you can get pigeon holed into some super boring projects.
Love this response. Exactly my experience. Desperately trying to steer myself towards transformation/implementation and out of IA/testing engagements.
