Is a JD a good move? I am currently a claims analyst for a top brokerage firm in NY. However I also want to attend law school as I think it will grow my career. Is this the right move? I plan to go into labor law (I.e. littler and Jackson Lewis) or an attorney for an insurance firm as a backup plan.

Looking for remote healthcare opportunities. I have spent 10 years in senior living (business office/hr , and admin. I’m interested in project management, implementation, or operations positions. I am based out of NJ. Also open to hybrid. Looking for company recommendations, hiring or not, to look out for. I’m in a role now where growth and development are not afforded to me.

How did you navigate refinancing loans? I have both private and federal loans (definitely applying for the relief for the federa). I'm going to have to refinance all of them bit I don't really know where to start. 2nd child coming H1-22. 1st will be few months away from 4yrs by then. Is xc60 big enough for 2 car seats and 3 adults? Person in middle seat will be slim frame. Presume BMW X1 / Audi Q3 will be even smaller and not in contention? Xc60 is around £28k for 2017 version (~30-40k miles) and X1 / Q3 around £22k for 2018/19 versions (~30k miles). Any other car to consider? Wife adamant no MPV. XC90 would be ~£32k for 70-80k mile 2016 version.

If you purchased a house - how soon after did you decide to start trying if that was your goal?

We are probably buying a home next fall. It won't be a fixer-upper but we have thought about finishing the basement BEFORE we have our first child. I *feel* like we could finish the basement, do some minimal changes and have the house and yard where we would like them by winter of 2024.

I think I'll be 31 when we actually have our first and my spouse will be 34. Anyone in the same boat?

Is it common in the industry for licensed insurance agents to not get any commissions on a referral in which you personally write the policy? Ex: If a current client refers a prospect to our team, I would not receive commission. Additionally, if I write a policy for friends/family I would get a small incentive but it’s a fraction of the commission producers make.
Management is considering changing this going forward. However, I’m not sure how I should react if they keep things how they are now.

Hi all! I was thinking about changing industries. I am currently an underwriter for for-hire transportation with 7.5 YOE. Wondering what others have found to be transferable skills or if anyone has made a career change. Also curious what other career paths other underwriters have gone on (possible changing departments or line of business, etc). Any info or suggestions appreciated!!

Hi,

Big ideas. Small ideas. Fun ideas. Smart ideas. And even silly ideas.

Ideas ideas ideas.

I've spent more than a decade in some good French agencies and now I'm looking for cool projects with foreign agencies.

I'm about to end a 1 year stint at W + K London and I'm looking for an AD to partner with on my next gigs.

I’m looking for a new job, working remotely, that doesn’t require a Bachelor’s. (I’m currently going back to school to get one, as I only have an Associate’s in Mathematics right now)
I had positions in private sector that allowed me to supplement having a degree with experience but not in public sector. I’ve seen coworkers get positions they aren’t able to do simply because they have a degree and then leave a mess for me to clean up but I’m not allowed to have the position. Any suggestions?

I am currently stuck between two job positions, one with Merrill making $85k base and big corp benefits and another for an RIA for $65k and no benefits like healthcare and 401k. I really like the RIA position better but other comparable positions in the area range from $45-$60k so it doesn’t seem like strong numbers to negotiate. Should I chose ML for the salary/benefits security— Anyone have insights? Worried of being a new higher compensated employee with a potential recession on the horizon..

My income will be split this year as i got a raise but in the 70-75k range of salary and it seems impossible. FL for reference

My friends have done very well and I’m happy for them, but it makes me feel inadequate. I’m about 40 and make low 6 figures in hcol. Live in a million dollar house (which is pretty average house built in 60s) and have a decent retirement of 500k. 2 kids, wife works. All in all, doing ok and good wlb. Objectively doing well but feel relatively poor compared to neighbors and peers. Is there any way to stop this self flagellation? Or do I need to put on my big boy pants and make more $?
