What does consulting mean? Why do people that go into consulting are making 100k right out of college? Don't you have to have years of experience to be considered a consultant (still not sure what that means or if that is just a broad term?)

Covid isn’t going anywhere and I refuse to lock myself in my apartment anymore b/c of it. Now, I’m 100% in favor of the vaccine, I’m fully vaxxed + boosted and can’t stand people who are just refusing to get it. But, I have friends that refuse to do literally anything because of covid and at this point they’re missing great memories we could make in our 20s b/c this virus is here to stay. Hi! I started off as an LPN for 6 years and for the last 4 years I have been an RN. Total 10 years experience. I’m in talks with management about being a candidate for a new position, Project Manager. This would be a promotion for me; however, a member of my team indicated the company may not want to increase compensation for this role even though I would have more responsibilities. It was even stated that “They may even want to fire people who asked for more money.” I am staggered. Do you advice for me? Should I look elsewhere? Any referrals?
