122 should pass because it will "allow the supervised use of psychedelic mushrooms by individuals aged 21 and over at licensed facilities," with the state creating a regulatory structure over these facilities. Full stop. While it decriminalizes use and possession for adults 21 and over, sale is still illegal. It is so important for our therapists to be able to help individuals with these substances outside of a clinical trial setting. Set and setting are very important and education on use is necessary, but decriminalization does not stop people from getting them. It is more important that there is a safe place for people to have access to these substances so that there is no need for them to buy and use them outside of these facilities.
I hope it passes because this bill specifically is trying to create a regulatory body that will effectively create and manage a unique mental health care system that relies on these psychedelics, and essentially will enable many small businesses that have been offering guided psychedelic therapies for years to become legitimate.
Psilocybin has dramatically changed my life and I can’t wait for the general population to have access to it through a guided session in a safe and professional environment.
I was anxious and depressed years ago. Had heard some benefits of using psilocybin as a therapy for numerous issues and tried it. First time I quit smoking cigarettes cold turkey. Since then I’ve used psilocybin once or twice a year for the past 14 years and each time it’s like I hit a reset button in my brain. It’s like cleaning a window with a years worth of dirt on it, and suddenly you see the world for what it really is. All your preconceived ideas are wiped away. After a few years of doing it I started seeing profound effects - i started seeing beauty everywhere; I could no longer pass judgement on others or myself; thinking logically without jumping to conclusions became the norm. Each “session” I’ve made a noticeable positive change, but the overall transformation over the years is much greater - I went from an unhealthy lifestyle with some toxic habits to continuously wanting to make myself better in every way, while also making healthy choices on a daily basis.

These plants are truly amazing and when taken with a proper set and setting, they can have a profound impact. I wish everyone in the world had access to them.
The prop would fully decriminalize shrooms and other psychedelics right? Basically make it legal to have and use without a prescription?
If that’s the case then I’m not for it. I think there are very clear medicinal benefits for them under the proper care and observation of a doctor, but allowing ppl to use and carry as they wish is not a good idea. I’ve seen ppl go off on bad trips and end up hurting themselves.
I’ve seen the same with alcohol
Haven’t seen any polling , but , if it’s gonna happen anywhere first it’ll be colorado.
Obviously it should pass on ethical grounds.

Everyone should have a psychedelic experience at least once in their life. Shrooms are great for mental health
I hope it passes. But I also hope there's some sort of education around it too. Too many people out there having bad trips because they don't understand the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people and the proper physical/mental setting. Seen shrooms used more as a party drug more often than not. To me, that defeats their purpose. But who knows, maybe I'm just gatekeeping 🤷♂️
Here's a link to the proposition: https://ballotpedia.org/Colorado_Proposition_122,_Decriminalization_and_Regulated_Access_Program_for_Certain_Psychedelic_Plants_and_Fungi_Initiative_(2022)
I find it a little odd and confusing that they're including three other substances as considerations down the road: ibogaine, dmt, and mescaline (excluding peyote?). I think this will turn people off.
I believe mushrooms do offer unique mental and spiritual benefit in the proper set and setting. I personally would be happy to see this pass. I think it's a move in the right direction.
Thanks for the response, I wasn't aware of the peyote reasoning.
Thinking about it, I suppose the DMT inclusion is more referring towards Ayahuasca usage than direct DMT usage, which makes sense.
I know people who moved to Colorado specifically to get seizure treatments from when we legalized marijuana. We became a world leader in that medical research.
This is no different, with all the evidence, someone will do this eventually we might as well be the leaders.
Disclaimer - im a raging libertarian.
Government has no right to tell me what I can or cannot put into my body, regardless of how harmful it may be. Want to inject heroin by the gallon? Go for it. Shrooms? Duh.
I’m voting no on the basis of how much being first wrecked this state for marijuana
SM1….or maybe your head is so far up your behind to know what goes on outside of your surroundings. Portland and Seattle have a huge drug and crime issue right now. There are people I know who have visited and experienced how bad it has gotten.
So try again…
I think it has a strong chance depending on how the Midterms pan out
Doubt it passes. It would essentially on the recreational side do what Denver did a few years ago. Unfortunately, most of this state is not as progressive and forward thinking as Denver… don’t forget one of the state’s congresswoman is that redneck Boebert
