What does it mean to be an of counsel? Is it more flexible than partner?

It depends. Some firms have of counsel positions for older specialists who are experts in their field but don’t want to have a billable requirement and responsibilities of a partner

For my firm, our "of counsel" is really more like a private practice attorney that we refer cases out to.

like

It varies widely depending on the firm.

My firm in particular has many of counsels, if that helps.

Alright, it’s a stepping stone to partner at my firm. They are generally younger attorneys. I am trying to see if that can be alternative to making partner.

An equity partner shares profits. Counsel are employees. Unlike an associate, a counsel’s relationship with the firm varies from firm to firm and often from counsel to counsel within the same firm. Some may be partners in waiting, others are never partners in waiting.

Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?

I’m 31yrs old and husband is 33yrs old, his motility and sperm count is too low, all my results are normal. so we decided to go with IUI first and see and then try for IVF as I cannot afford IVF, my insurance is not covering for treatments. I was taking letrozole And ovidural injection(only one injection), and got ready for this cycle, but unfortunately when the sperm was washed his motility 2.5 and our doctor at CCRM suggested not to go, as count is too low and it doesn’t work.😭. Will IVF work?

Hi I work in patient finance and I am desperately bored with my job. I have a bachelors which isn’t a requirement for my role. I have been applying non stop to jobs that do require a bachelors and I am qualified for. Either I don’t get called for an interview or when I do I’m not selected. I have followed up with some of the interviewers and they all told me I interview well. I am so tired of disappointment that I feel like giving up and just settling. I don’t know what to do.
