What does it mean when you apply to a bunch of jobs for which I am a good fit and you hear nothing back for these jobs? For some applications, I'm approaching two weeks since submission. I did get a call back to the first position I applied to; however, after the lab manager saw how much experience I had he said to release me, far too overqualified, tell him he should be applying to Senior Research Associate positions. I have ten years lab experience.

RA, you sound offended at what AD1 stated. Let me explain a bit further on what AD1 may have meant. If you're truly qualified, the only reason you're not getting phone screens is because your resume have not passed the initial screening by either a software or HR.

Revamping will help greatly. I recently paid money $250 (I know it sound insane) to revamp my resume to correctly reflect my experience as well as changing keywords to improve my chances.

I have received 23 phone screens, 12 interviews, and 5 offers all above 125K base plus signing bonuses. I'm in a LCOL area and so, these are pretty awesome offers. $250 spent for 125K base positions in my area is money well spent in my opinion.

Likely, your resume

😂 I’m saying it’s likely your resume. I remember going through a similar experience and once I got my resume revamped i started getting calls immediately after applying. If your have 10+ years experience you should definitely be getting calls back. It’s worth looking into!

It means you haven't applied to enough jobs 😁

Where are you located (roughly)? In New England biotech is exploding. Might be a good market to look at.

I'm in Watsonville, Ca. I definitely can't move; however, thanks for the concern. Once I have my revamped documents, hopefully, gaps in my resume and any resume faux pas that might be in my resume and or cover letter. They're also doing my LinkedIn revamp. I just need a break at a company that can see my value.

Hi everyone, I thought I’d come back and tell how things have been going since I updated my résumé, two cover letters and my LinkedIn made vibrant.

Ever since I changed my resume, I’ve been getting a lot of attention from recruiters. I have 5 on going, relationship development, and asking me what I want and telling me about what the different jobs at his company.

Right now, I’m seriously hoping for Roche/Genentech to pick me up. So, there’s still some time before I land a job, but it’s coming soon. I recently opened myself up to SF jobs, which expands my base salary and opens up a huge number of jobs 😃. So I didn’t exactly get a windfall of offers and interview, there was clearly something wrong with my resume for all of the recruiters coming after me because they sure didn’t when I uploaded my first resume.

Anyway, more to come, I hope 🤞 I hope you all have nice festivities this past week!

Looking at exiting to a F500 company (Rank ~300), for a director of strategy role, with my manager reporting directly to the CSO.

The pay is identical, plus stock RSUs on top. WLB is much better (8-5 job), and work is more interesting.

They require relocation to a LCOL (less desirable) city. I'm thinking of asking to work remotely for the first 6-12 months (to accommodate wifes job), and fly in every other week (coast to coast flight).

Is that reasonable to ask? What else should I consider?

Hi fishes!

I've been working as a freelancer for the last 1yr as a UI/UX designer. Now I'm thinking of switching back to a full time job in the same field. Usually companies ask what's your current and expected CTC. In this situation, what would be the best response? Shall I give them my last invoice that I got paid or tell them it's variable?
Also, what should be the expected CTC with 4 YOE in Product design or UI/UX role?

Any suggestions and thoughts are highly appreciated!

Has anyone done earthquake retrofitting for a house NEWER than 1980? I know it’s a must-do for houses OLDER than 1980. But my house was built in 1988, so it’s not required.

Several contractors provided estimates, in the $40k-$50k range, which seems like a lot of $$$.

Apparently our house has bolts but not enough and not the right kind, plus it needs joist blocking and shear paneling. All to meet codes put in place after our house was built.

Just curious if others have done this.

I know a few retired C-level executives who tell me that they would hire me at the director level in pretty much any role (despite currently being an individual contributor) because I'm extremely driven, a life-long learner, a natural leader, and deeply educated in diverse fields (PhD in engineering and MBA in analytics). I have an offer to do some consulting for a company based out of the UK (I am in the US). The job would not go through a consulting company but would be directly with the company. I have not done any consulting before so I am not sure how it works, what I would need to set up (they mentioned that I would start a LLC and bill them directly, no idea how to do that), how to determine the tax implications of this, or what hourly rate I would expect. Can anyone offer advice?
