How does your firm calculate utilization? My firm’s billable requirement is 1850, but our utilization percentage is calculated based on 40 hours billed per week (2080/year). Pro bono work counts towards billable requirement , but isn’t included in our utilization numbers. This seems out of sorts… Yearly requirement is fine, but it just feels like the numbers don’t match up. I don’t feel like my utilization expectations/work are being accurately accounted for.
How do you approach a virtual group of silent students? I have utilized PearDeck,NearPod to engage my PM group but they are mute. My AM group is awesome but this PM group is non-responsive. Especially during reading.
This is convoluted. I knew two staffs, staff A was way better then staff B. Staff B got promoted and A didn't. From what I gather they have similar utilization, and staff A has better reviews.
Is utilization just a tax thing?
My senior keeps on cc-ing the manager and senior manager on emails when he assigns me work. He didn’t used to do that, but the past 6-7 emails I’ve gotten have been like this. I did hear a rumor that there were talks about my efficiency/utilization....do you think it’s related to that? Is this passive aggressive? Just confused because no one has actually talked to me about my efficiency/utilization.
My dad is turning 65 soon and yesterday he told me he’s super unhappy at his job bc he’s not getting promoted. He feels like his talents are not being utilized. I feel for him but he’s so close to retirement and he’s the sole breadwinner for him and my mom (brother and I offered support but they decline). Has anyone been in a similar situation? I feel like he will get discouraged with his job search if he doesn’t hear back from places and will be even more unhappy. Anyone have any leads on (con)
Tech implementation folks, what is your utilization target (hrs/week)? How many hours do you actually work per week (incl. admin/non-billable work)?
Is utilization low in most firms right now? Is it efficiency that is causing this or a slow downturn in the economy causing businesses to close?
In light of all discussions on FB, it seems to me that individuals at our firm have been removed out of EY beyond PIP related issues. To help the community brace itself, please provide facts on your Utilization, level, leads, YoE at EY, and network. My experience seems that the ones let go, had weak network.
What is the exact date on which utilization tracking for FY2018 started? I know it's March sometime. When does it end?
I wish admin utilized Tier 1 supports with teachers. Smiles, appreciations and acknowledging ones efforts would do a great deal to boost morale and climate. I just don’t understand what that is so hard to do.
Hello, I joined in September 2021 as consultant. Was on bench till mid October. Now my utilization is only 58%. I am a little confused with these numbers. Do I need to check with someone on this or is this ok for a recent hire?
So I am a PI staff 2 in the west coast. Already in the PIP due to poor utilization last year. Trying everything I can to get staffed this time round but only 50% utilization up until now. (CTD)

Have some down time now and want to learn something 'foundational' - not latest trends or just an overview. Do you have any recommendations on what can someone who has been in IT consulting in payer/provider for 5 years can learn? Like a short college course or a Coursera certification? Anything?
