With us, you’d have a professional development manager (PDM) who should be working to balance your interests and developmental needs with the work available at the time you’re staffing. We generally say you can “solve for” one of the following levers: geography, industry, function or people. That said, staffing has been the Wild Wild West during COVID (e.g. study waitlists decreasing flexibility) and there needs to be more personal advocacy right now than there ever was in the past. PDMs are still prioritizing people as much as they can, though.

You’re typically reviewed in the context of your class, so it feels like these things would be systemically ubiquitous at this point

Nothing. We just staffed people on call center projects during COVID. The North never forgets.

If less than a year and a half or in tight staffing - go wherever they want you to go. If proven performer you have your pick.

KPMG- joined with verbal agreement id be transferring into a diff dept after helping out my dept. My supervisor was nice, but despite my interview convo, she started talking against ppl that transferred depts and how ridiculous it all is, then never came to bat for me. They were always short staffed, so they never let me go; thus I decided to go out of the company. Guidehouse- Ended up switching here looking for startegy work. They interviewed with me, hired me without a specific assignment (so that I could hear the various contract options they had for me and pick one I wanted) Ended up not liking the contract work I was on, so spoke to my supervisor and two months later they switched me to a new contract. Guidehouses informal motto "We'd rather keep good people at our company (even if it means we lose them from our departments), than have them unhappy and leave the Guidehouse team"

We only get assigned call center projects... jokes aside, we usually find our own projects

We can more or less pick our projects
