What does your partner do every Sunday night when you have to wake up at 4:30 am for a flight Monday morning? What is the solution to not interrupt their “beauty sleep”?

When I initially read this, I was trying to figure why the partner on the account would wake up on Monday at 430.

My partner wakes up with me and he makes me a coffee before I leave. It’s one of the best parts of my week!

I usually completely pack up except what I am supposed to wear on the road. I would leave everything by the front door and change in the bathroom. Also, it is not ideal but i take a shower right before going to bed to minimize the distraction early in the morning

like

Same. Shower the night before was a game changer, just run my head under the sink then peace out.

I get up immediately when the alarm goes off (none of that snooze button nonsense. It’s fine if you’re alone but it’s rude and inconsiderate if you have a partner or roommates). Pre-Pack suitcase, laptop bag and hang clothes for fly day in the bathroom the night before. Get dressed, wash face, fix hair/makeup in the bathroom so I don’t make a bunch of noise in the bedroom, and I’m out the door in about 20 min. I also have a duplicate set of toiletries that I keep in my suitcase so I don’t have to remember to pack those after I’ve used them in my home bathroom on fly day morning.

like

@MD1 I tried that once... slept through it and missed my flight! 😳

My husband wakes up right after me, while I get ready he makes coffee and I join to fix a simple breakfast, we both have our breakfast & coffee together at 5:30 AM, he says it makes Monday as a normal day, Thursday evening I’m back home for dinner and cook, so technically mom is out only on Tues/Wed 😀

like

This one is easy...*get Fitbit/Apple watch, set vibrating alarm*
No noise, no hassle

like

My husband gets up at 4:00am every weekday morning for a workout, so fortunately we have no issues with early morning alarm clocks/noise!

like

That’s Awesome that works for you. It doesn’t work for me

like

I wouldn’t jump to “ deal w it"

like

Use an alarm app like Sleep Cycle and put the phone in or near your pillow so it wakes you up but not your partner

like

Love that app! Game changer every night of the week

I had to figure this out when I was coming off of maternity leave. Baby was still in our room, & if you think waking your partner is tough, try the dread of waking a sleeping infant. 😋

The solution for us is my iPhone’s bedtime alarm. The morning alarm is really gradual, & I’m so paranoid in the mornings, I wake up immediately. It never woke up my husband or baby. I had everything (clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc.) in the bathroom the night before so I never had to turn a light on in our room. Worked perfectly. 👌

like

My wife can sleep through the fire alarm and 4th of July fireworks so no real issues there but I still put everything I need to get ready in the other bathroom to minimize noise and light in the bedroom.

funny

Apple Watch silent alarm to wake me up. Use the guest bath (away from the master) to get ready. And sneak out the door. It works 90% of the time. But I do occasionally end up waking her or the baby up 😬.

1) leave him/her a nice note before you leave with how much you appreciate them, and a small gift (flower, chocolate, massage certificate)
2) when you come back home at the end of the week, stop working and focus on him/her instead of doing emails and work crap :)

How do you handle it when your kid can’t go to school/daycare? Daycare options in my area are extremely limited, and the one are in is pretty good. They are very strict about kids not being there when they are sick, which I appreciate and mostly agree with. Except that the rules are along the lines of if your kid has a temperature over 100, they cannot come in until they’ve been under 100 for 72 hours. According to every doctor I’ve spoke to, 100 isn’t even considered a fever. (See rest below)
