Good evening everyone,

I have to rant and seek advice. It’s my 5th year teaching overall. I’m a 1st year at a new district it’s been really nice except for just some very small inconveniences: no classroom budget, too many meetings during planning time, printers are so bad that I had to bring mine from home, my district gives teachers chromebooks for laptops. I’m a a point where if I was invited to come back next year I’d say tell them no, am I crazy, is it just me? Please help

My school is a small rural school. We don’t offer many in-house electives. What’s happening is students are having to take whatever is there to fill their schedules. If they aren’t interested in the class, then it becomes an opportunity for disruptions because they aren’t interested. What are some electives you have at your school that are new, innovative and interesting for todays high school students?

So my AP environmental science students take their AP test next Thursday, and I have 63 students taking it. I decided I want them to have dinner / a senior gift. I decided to ask for donations for $500 and in less than 3 hours I exceeded $400, most donations from past students. My point, you are making a difference if you feel you aren’t, I was reminded of that today.

What are you reading over break for your own enjoyment? My favorite authors are Bill Bryson, Garrison Keilor, Jodi Picoult, and Maeve Binchy. My favorite book to come out this year was Where the Crawdads Sing.

How many students have you been put with this year? I started out with 140 students for English 11 and then got class swapped with 4 other classes before 2nd quarter started to end up with 157 students. Does this happen alot? I'm in my 7th year of teaching and getting the hint of abuse of power.
