What Excel shortcuts save your life on a daily basis? I feel like I could be doing things faster, I just don’t know how. Makes me feel old, lol.

***Ctrl+S every 2 minutes***
1. Selecting multiple cells using combos of Ctrl/Shift/Alt + direction arrows/"Home"/"End"
2. Pasting as values: Alt + E>S>V
3. Text to columns to change numbers stored as text into numbers
4. Grouping columns and rows instead of hiding them
5. Pivot tables:
a. Create: Alt > N > V
b. Refresh: Alt + F5
c. Stop columns width from adjusting to content: right click > Pivot table options > Uncheck "Autofit column widths on update"
6. Insert/remove columns/rows: Ctrl + or Ctrl -
7. Customize the top ribbon to your most used functions (eg, I've got (un)filter, copy format, (un)group, text to columns
8. Find: Ctrl+F
9. Replace: Ctrl+H

Also, Google has very creative shortcuts and answers for almost any of your problems :)

There's a function that highlights all duplicates in red. Makes it that much more easy to do busy work

I use ctrl+f to find things every single day. Some of my spreadsheets have soooo much info on them that it becomes hard to find what I am looking for.

This is a great hack.

like

Control + K
Adds a link to another file on your spreadsheet

F2
Easily rename a folder when selected on it

PRO TIP:
For easy adding. Select the cells you want to add up. Look at the Right hand corner. Click on “Sum:” it’ll copy the total to clipboard.

I feel like I'm about to save so much time with this!

I'm all about hiding stuff I don't need to see and freezing cells so I don't have to endlessly scroll. Also second the Ctrl+S every 2 minutes, as someone suggested above. Can't tell you how many times I had to redo a bunch of work because my laptop crashed and I hadn't hit save in awhile.

Auto size width: Alt + H + O + I
Open dialogue box: Ctrl + P
Find and select: Alt + H + F + D
Create new sheet: shift + F11
Spell check: F7

Also best practices: don’t be a douche and use merge and center (always center across selection)

Quick access toolbar
1) top border
2) right border
3) font color
4) fill color
5) font size
6) create chart

*ctrl+shift+P

like

Alt+shift+right to easily group. X lookups as well! Although that’s not a shortcut really.

Alt + ⬇️ to open the dropdown on a filter. “E” to jump to the search box you can start typing right away. In pivot table filters, you can start typing as soon as it’s open

And Alt + = in the cell directly beside a range to autosum said range

These are all great, thank you guys for all the advice!

Alt + H + N + N
I had to think hard to remember what the actual keys were. I highlight cells that need updating, once updated, this clears the full colour.

Another one I use, which probably won’t help you is alt + 7 which for me is a query refresh that I have added to the quick access toolbar. A button in smart view add in

When in doubt, just tap Alt and every combination of keys will highlight… identify the ones you use the most and write them on a sticky note until they are burned into your subconscious

Anyone feel frustrated at times with the super aggressive sales personalities we deal with? My AE is always pushing on every ask no matter how minuscule it is. My vp is super anal about anything we do. I understand these guys pull in huge commissions and bonuses that’s why they are so motivated. However what I personally feel is they just nag us until we do the job according to their spec. Just venting……anyone else feel the same?

I currently work as an associate marketing manager for 2 years, I previously worked on the financial operations team. My manager was very patient and trained me in all our systems and my tasks. This was also during the pandemic so a lot of calls, sharing screens on teams. She was very hands on but I took as because I'm younger, new in the digital marketing world and she making sure I was set up for success. Fast forward to 1 year and half she became a helicopter manager.
