What firm has the best benefits? I know most firms don't match 401ks, but do any allow mega backdoor Roths? Heavily subsidize healthcare (either paying all or most premiums or large HSA subsidies) or gym memberships (I'm talking like 80% equinox memberships)? Do any firms have official sabbatical policies for associates? Long vacations? Actual 1800-2100 hour expectations (corporate) rather than being told you're below average at 2250?

Lol extremely helpful all the replies that just name a firm with no supporting info

I can't go back and edit my question but don't the question and basic social / conversational norms make you think, "hm I think they may want justification on the response even if they don't explicitly ask for it"?

I feel like I'm on a first date asking all the questions and getting one word responses with no followups or questions directed at me.

I think most (women) also take time off as disability leave as part of the maternity leave. Seems well accepted for new moms to be off for 6 months.

At least if there is a vacation policy u get paid out essentially six weeks severance when you quit

My firm typically does insurance defense, but we take plaintiffs cases here and there. Is it typical that work done by associates on contingency cases isn’t counted toward their billable hour requirements unless and until we receive our fee on the case? This is my first experience with this, but it’s hard for me to reach my hours as is, without spending time on non billable cases like this with no assurance that I’ll see billable credit at the end.

Hi there- wondering if anyone can provide insight on what a good hourly rate might be for a toddler (2.5 years old) and an infant (4 months) for a recurring nanny, working 30 hours a week. The toddler will be starting half-day preschool in a few months as well. Does that mean we have two different rates depending on when the toddler is home? Any additional insight on standard benefits would also be very helpful. Am new to this and not sure what is reasonable and competitive. Am in Boston suburb

At what net worth (incl. of all liquid and non-liquid assets except the house you live in) do you feel secure of your future where you do not care about job security? Assume not much liability - house/car paid off, you already paid for kids education. So its just you and your spouse living normal (?) life. Is $4M a good target where with 5% return you get $200K per year which in my opinion is more than enough for 2 people? I know most people in this bowl already have more net worth already.

Over the last three years my mfg company has had a lot of people leave and each time I take on the extra responsibility - from admin, payroll, benefits, compliance, safety, inventory and shipping. I literally do it all. And not only that, but I’ve eliminated and optimized a lot of wasteful processes in order to get it all done. I thought that it would all come with eventual pay increases since it saves the company over 300k in overhead. This whole time I should have been OE. I feel like a fool.

My boyfriend and I make 200K combined and live in NJ. We have $1000 in monthly car payments combined. That’s all we owe. Our credit scores are in the 800s. We have 50K to put down on a home. We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. But then he starts to talk about how much kids cost and how we will be house poor and we won’t be able to afford kids. 🤔 Am I insane??
