I’ve been focusing on what makes me happy, and doing my best to reduce or eliminate what doesn’t.
Here’s my new way of living:
Not allowing myself to check my email or social media till I’ve properly started my day.
830-930 I have a “meeting” but it’s just me protecting time so I can exercise
I go on a walk every day at 1
I’ve stopped drinking for the most part
Sleeping 8-9 hours a night
I’ve replace reading Twitter with reading The New York Times
I’d say all of this has greatly improved my life
This is very helpful!
Yoga/stretching or a walk to the local coffee shop before work in the morning, always take a lunch break, and try to work out (almost) every day. I definitely still have a lot of unhealthy habits (on social media too much, look at my phone before bed - like now for instance - not allowing myself enough time to “relax”) but taking baby steps. Nice to see what other people are doing!
Every time a 30 minute meeting gets canceled, I lace up my sneakers and go for a 20 minute run
Rising Star
A real pal would keep setting up and cancelling meetings with you
Since telework started, been rolling out of bed 15 min before my daily 9am team meetings. But recently began waking up an hour earlier than usual to actually plan the day, do a quick workout, etc. It’s actually made a difference
What differences have you noticed?
I keep to a pretty strict drug and alcohol regimen that’s been helping me hang on.
Yeah, at this point, alcohol is just unnecessary calories caused some weight gain earlier in quarantine. So, I cut it off except for w meals on the weekends! 👌🏾
Never noticed how much weight I could gain from alcohol alone!
Never snooze. If you set a wake up time, just freaking wake up at that time no matter what
MC3 is that Apple's new ideology?? 😂
Morning pages. Did it for a period of time, it did not seem very productive at first, but after a while I realized it helped clear my thoughts and boosted creativity. It's 3 pages of whatever comes to mind first thing in the morning. No editing.
@BCG2 -It's kind of like a brain clean.
Minimum of 30 minute run (prior competitive runner), just about every day. No questions asked. Way easier with wfh and covid. Changes your entire outlook on the day, helps your subconscious shift through a ton of swirling thoughts
Daily prayer and reflection 😊
definitely have to agree with this, getting in more prayers these days

LinkedIn is full of posts discussing this very point.
Pages and pages and pages of advice of what makes great leaders and uber-productive, uber-happy individuals.
Check it out.
Also, everything people say there is true.
EY2 - you’re unhelpful
Read 1 book a month. Unlike tv or music, reading always demands your attention and focus. So it can offer a small break. I read across genres too to keep it interesting
Podcasts have also been a fun way to pass time on a walk. I really like Conan O’Brien needs a friend, True Crime Obsessed, and Robinhood Snacks
Spank the monkey between meetings
So reading 📖 and running 🏃♀️ are the top 2 so far?
Meditation (if done right) has really helped me from hitting a wall in productivity. It almost feels like a reset button to clear my thoughts
Daily bike rides with the one true boss!
Yes, heavy -- 70 lbs. I got the fat tires on purpose so I can ride in snow too.
30 minutes of quiet/coffee whatever me time before I dive in and wait to check email until after
Same! My morning coffee + NYT crossword time is sacred
Everyone should have a routine that works for them. What works for me - wake up at the same time every day, eat regular meals and get some exercise after work. I don’t eat past 7:00 PM. I stopped drinking alcohol 3.5 years ago. It doesn’t sound exciting but when I started this routine, I felt better physically, mentally and quit getting sick.
Also just to point out to the folks reading this, If you’re not productive and haven’t adopted any “good” habits that’s OK too. It’s a tough time right now, give yourself grace and try not compare to someone else ❤️

Took my guitar out of my storage. Sneak in a couple of guitar solos between meetings when I get the house to myself. My dogs are very amused
With 3 young kids below 10 and both of us working, my days are focused on them and work. Evenings when they go to bed give some time to exercise and reading. So I wake up 20 minutes before their class to get them ready.
Sorry to hear that... sounds tough. Hang in there!
