What is your annual charge goal? Ours is 1800.
I can't speak to other firms, but at EY you will not be promoted to manager without a CPA or JD. You stay an indefinite senior with the same responsibility as a manager and crappy 1% raises
PwC won't promote to senior without CPA.
^not true. No requirement for CPA in advisory.
What if I switch into advisory?
The license is a requirement of the business. Would you expect a law firm to hire someone who had not passed the bar? Same with public accounting. You'll get a pass your first few years, but long term you need to be a CPA to be in the profession.
I feel like you'll always be looked down upon without one. How many managers/SM in advisory do you know without a CPA (accounting type related advisory, not IT and stuff)?
Yes
Yes. Unless you go to lawschool.
Advisory won't take you from audit or tax if you don't have your CPA. You can be an in charge which is the same thing as senior but can't be manager.
