He goes to infant daycare with 4 other kids, should I send something for the daycare but what?I have photo shoots or portrait session, cupcake smash, decorations at home, 2 birthday gifts (1 actual gift and other birthday money in his account) till now… Help!

My mom lost my stepdad last year in a tragic accident. She stopped eating for a bit and lost weight. Lately I've gained weight (work/parenting stress in a pandemic, working attorney hours, not exercising like I did pre-COVID, not eating well). It's no mystery. I know why I gained weight. But my mom has started to try to give me advice on weight loss. Keeps referring to how I should do what she did. It's taking everything I have not to say, "What? Have my husband die?" Pray for me.

So last couple of years have been very tough for me, ending a 6yr LTR, ex getting married overnight, dating horrors, losing 40lbs, intense family issues, covid, major housing crisis, etc etc. I realized I've given up hope and become insanely negative. Last night had a break down and decided I'm gonna reboot again. Just looking for tips to keep this motivation going.

I work in insurance defense and we are getting slammed as far as workload and have been for some time. It’s nice because I haven’t had to beg for billable work and always hit my goals. My question is whether this has been the norm at other insurance defense firms. My other question is how other states are dealing with COVID restrictions on jury trials. Has anyone tried anything during the pandemic?

Can someone explain how so many people have competing offers for negotiation? I keep hearing “don’t expect to have a strong case for negotiation unless you have a competing offer”. Wouldn’t that have to line up perfectly with you interviewing for multiple roles at the same time?? An offer has a quick expiration period... or do you negotiate with an expired offer you rejected within the past few weeks.

Evaluating two exit offers. One in an industry I want to build my career with a high caliber team (ex MBB) but seems a bit cutthroat and another in a new industry I’m not exactly interested in and supporting team isn’t the strongest (career industry folks) but my direct manager seems to really care about building my career and will lead a team vs more of an IC. Comp is similar and blue chip firms in their industry. Thoughts on how to weigh these? Bit of a big fish/small pond scenario.
