What have organizations been doing for virtual culture building? Has anyone tried a virtual water cooler idea and how did that work?

We have recently we have done virtual pumpkin carving, and happy hours. We don’t do them too often as people have zoom fatigue. We also have a company “all hands” meeting once a week that we have built in more of a social component. That has helped as well. We are a company of 60-75 people

like

We have also done yoga during the day and meditation sessions. With new employees we also set up cross functional coffees.

We’ve been doing weekly all staff meetings, via zoom. We highlight a program area each week, and our CEO speaks once a month. Have been great to keep everyone informed and in touch. I also started a weekly HR email with updates and staff highlights.

like

Sounds like a great idea!

It’s important to understand more about your peoples interests and passions to try and create fun ideas and activities around that. I’ve seen storytelling with weekly prompts be a fun way to engage people. For example, asking a bunch of fun questions and have people post photos and responses. But, it can’t be only driven by HR, need other employees to drive it.

Not to plug my startups tool, but our system does both because of the impact it has on culture. We ended up creating an automated feature around storytelling because of how we saw our clients using our tool. It’s a nice way to not have to rely on Zoom to connect people.

Hello everyone, I just started my career as an SAP analyst at BearingPoint France. And I am wondering if there are better options for career development as I will be looking for opportunities in non-European countries where BearingPoint doesn’t necessarily ring a bell. I was thinking of Accenture, but I’m not sure about their culture and compensation. Btw, starting salary for analyst at Bearing is about 42K.

Is it okay to spend 3 years at a company and not get a major promotion (I just get the 2-3% yearly raise) or Should I start looking for another job?
