I started telling myself “none of this actually matters” at the end of last busy season and I haven’t been anxious since. I obviously still care about performing well and meeting deadlines, but it helped me stop stressing about things out of my control

Following because I’m also curious.

For me though, there’s no magic cure I’ve found. I find that meditating every morning and working out 6x a week has definitely helped me, even if only a bit.

I take l-theanine with my coffee in the morning and afternoon and I find it gets me into a nice focused state.

Oh yeah, sleep and water help too.

I love this approach. I feel like this is so relatable. Meditation helps to find inner peace, but the key is to handle anxiety coming from outside!

Getting a new job. I don’t mean this facetiously - I say it because I’ve been there and positive coping mechanisms can only help to an extent. Best of luck!

✋Anxiety got so bad last year my doctor made me take a leave of absence. Since I’ve been back, what’s helped most is all the stuff already listed above plus: ZERO notifications for Outlook or Teams on my phone, and not checking the apps post 7pm, except on short-term rare occasions like when we’re in production or on a pitch. And, an equally important step in that process: absolutely not apologizing or explaining myself when I reply at 9am to a message someone clearly sent me at 7pm. So far I’ve picked up on a few people whose vibe suggests they think I’m lazy or slacking, but I truly don’t care. The business will always survive — you need to make sure that you do, too.

Totally agree. Asking yourself if something that’s bothering you really matters in the long run is essential to keeping perspective.

I asked for top cover from my program manager. I asked for another employee to backfill the last one. I found a replacement who was never contacted. So, I turned in my badge to manage 26 office's tech. The Program Manager had no clue of my workload or impact. The client begged the parameters manager to get me back after I already committed to a new client in another state. I ended up worked full time for two clients flying between states but it was much better than the quick sand I was in with the first one and I was able to manage the expectation that I AM leaving after that. I have my degree and four college certs including one in project management. When a project isn't being managed properly, leave it.

I use my calendar not only for appts but to map out my days with the tasks that I know are on my plate. Scheduling the things my anxiety might naturally lead me to put off when distracted for first thing in the morning. That way when something pops up I can manage my time as needed and I don’t get overwhelmed.

These are great!! Thanks everyone and I’ll start incorporating your suggestions. Hope this post helps others dealing with anxiety too.

What are the best ways to collect demographic details from your employees?

Our business is two years old and about 60 full time employees strong. We've never gathered demographic details from our team members such as ethnicity, cultural identify, sexual orientation, etc. and recently ran into an instance where the percentages of diversity among staff was requested. We obviously do not intend on guessing so I'd love your best options of how you gathered this info. where you are! thanks.

A friendly reminder that the people you work with are human beings behind those screens - with lives, needs and proposes beyond work.

I had to attend my third virtual family funeral because of COVID in the last 6 months. I told my boss and he didn't even ask if i needed bereavement time, instead asked if that meant I was gonna miss "the big meeting" that the funeral conflicted with. No one should have to defend their family or personal needs right now. Please keep kindness and empathy alive 💙
