What, if any, changes should your firm be making to adjust to the post Covid world?

Not firm specific, a few global (Earth) changes:
1. Transition to traditional hours for all salary workers (e.g. 8-5, 9-6)
2. Off time is no work time, period.
3. Publicly posted salaries and benefits. Make companies work to earn employees.

Hey Everyone!
I’m coming up on one year of working in consulting post under grad in a financial services vertical. I know I want to transition to corporate strategy down the road, but don’t have much interest in financial service strategy. Should I try and switch into a more applicable practice such as M&A or operations? Will I be able to break into corporate strategy without any past experience in that industry? I want to avoid getting pigeonholed into FS, but with COVID, don’t want to leave.

I’m a 2nd year associate and I’ve been working at the same firm since I started. In a nutshell, I love the work (the practice area) but not the people very much (it’s just not a fit). I’ve been thinking of leaving for some time. I have an opening at another law firm, but my practice area would be different. Should I just wait for another opening in my area of preference? With Covid, openings are rare for entry level associates ...

We are expecting a second child in about 15 days and my first one is 2.5 yrs old. My wife took a break after our first child and we never had a nanny. Our entire family lives outside of US. With the current situation, none of our extended family members are now able to travel and help. we are worried about hiring a nanny at this point because of covid concerns. What are my childcare options so that I can be with my wife during the labor?

Accepted an offer of employment with a mid-sized firm to begin in a couple of months. I’ve always wanted to shoot for big law but haven’t had the opportunity thus far. Overall, I accepted because I didn’t want to take the opportunity for granted in addition to the uncertainty with hiring due to covid. Would it be an issue to shoot for a big law opportunity in the interim? I know how this looks and sounds, so I definitely don’t want to set a precedent that I deal in bad faith.

The managing partner of my office likes to make jokes about Covid now that it is “over” (either in small group convos or speeches to the office). My dad died from Covid, and I honestly feel like it’s so insensitive for him to make these comments when he knows that I lost my dad to it. Our office isn’t that big, and I don’t think many people forget being told that someone they know lost someone from Covid. It has made me consider leaving because of it, but the economy isn’t great.

Hi, can anyone help. What is the difference between a local and regional publication when you’re based in NY?

Married for 14 years with 5 kids. Since the start, my wife has had anger issues. She’s not violent, but will go on ‘anger benders’ for days where she cannot be kind to me, stonewalls, and even leaves. Sometimes this is based on a bad argument; most recently, it’s based in a story she conjured up and believes about me having an affair with my neighbor, even though it is 100% false and I’ve tried to show her that. Is this a sign of a personality disorder? Or something else? How can I support her?
