I left IB a year ago as an Associate to do Corp Dev. Unfortunately it’s turned out to be a total bust: the company “paused” all M&A activity about 6 months ago and I’ve just been doing BS Strategy / Ops work since then. I’m deciding if I want to go back to IB, or try for a better Corp Dev role. In general, do you guys think that Corp Dev roles are kinda bullshit, or are there good Corp Dev roles out there? I really hate not being a revenue-generating employee like I was in IB

Was let go as a staff 2 at 77k in September and currently have 3 offers in deciding between them. Would really appreciate any feedback. 1. 3rd year associate at PWC -HIA at 85k. 2. Transformation analyst at a big 3 automaker 83.5k 10% bonus. 3. Product development role at a healthcare startup. 100k 7.5k sign on and 7.5k bonus in 3 months. Potential 20% bonus at year end.

Has anyone ever been promoted to ACD only to feel like they were much happier at the Senior CW/AD level? I’m going through that right now and wondering if it will pass with time as I get more experience in the role. Or, if it doesn’t, what do you do about it? Would it look horrible to eventually take a job somewhere else back at the Senior CW level? I’ve always loved being the maker - focusing on writing and concepting. Having a lot of anxiety that this new position isn’t the right path for me.

Already at MBB. Went to T10 undergrad. Dream exit is health tech. Applied R1 and only got into Kellogg. It sure would be fun to explore and network for 2 years. But not convinced Kellogg is enough of a leg up for my network or career prospects versus current MBB role to be worth the financial/opportunity cost. I just need to get this off my chest. I went from insurance defense to workers comp because I like that side of the v. and I thought it would lead to a decent pay raise. I wasn't making market value at ID firm and the firm had no more money to give (sometimes had to wait a week for paychecks to issue due to finance problems). After a year at this new firm, I definitely have my bearings of WC and ask for a raise during my review. That was denied and they had their feedback. After about 6 months..
