How much can I expect to take home on 105k in NYC after health insurances + maxing 401k? I'm calculating about $2,100 biweekly (26 periods) $4,038 gross -$1,076 state/federal taxes + medicare etc -$787 401k -$75 health insurances (HDHP, vision, dental) $2,100 estimated biweekly takehome
Anyone else nervous about the future and not being able to retire at a reasonable age. How do you determine how much you need for retirement? Late 30s family inc. is $200k planning on kids as well
This might be a dumb question but when folks say max out 401k contributions, do they mean the full 19.5k per year? I usually do the 5% to get my company match.
401k? Easy to take money out?
Do we owe taxes when we buy and sell funds within 401k or 403b? Asking because I want to take over management from fidelity and adjust my portfolio and begin managing myself. Also 403b for spouse with Transamerica
Looking for some direction. Just finished paying off my law school debt. I'm 29 years old. $40k in taxable brokerage account, $15k emergency fund (3.5 months), $20k in 401k. In September I'm starting a new job that will pay me $200k which doubles my current salary. Will max my HSA, 401k etc. But should I be making Roth 401k contributions in this tax bracket?
State your firms retirement benefits...401k and so on. Accenture is 100% match up to 6%, but only after year 1.
First time leaving firms - not sure what to do with my 401k. Should I keep it as it is, transfer to an IRA, or a Roth IRA. If it is the latter, I know Roth IRA has a 6k limit but my 401k has ~17k. Will it exceed the limit and if so, what should I do? 22 here, not too familiar with the process. Thanks!
Any recommendations for good Personal Finance help books (investing, 401k, passive income) for beginners? Thank you in advance!!
401k or Roth ira which is better
Hey ladies, I just started in consulting and haven’t started saving before opening up a 401k with my company, but want to do something else as well. I want to be financially independent and learn how to invest but I’m not sure what to do next / am lacking in the financial literacy department. Do you have any recommendations on next steps or resources that helped you learn about this soade? Thank you so much :)
What do you invest in if you’ve already maxed out 401k and HSA and don’t qualify for IRA?
Just discovered that the SO and I have the ability to mega back door IRA at our respective jobs. Wondering if we should be investing there vs our after tax investment account. Already maxing 401k, backdoor roth IRA, HSA, and 1k a month to a joint after tax account
Can someone explain how they prioritize IRA after hitting the income limit so it is no longer tax deductible? I believe it becomes lower priority than HSA and 401k. Thanks!
Got an offer for 145k with a 10% bonus no 401k though. Currently at 110k with same bonus. Worth the move?
I’m a lazy investor and don’t want to think about my money, so I invest my Roth IRA and 401K into a Vanguard target fund (2065). Should I be doing more with my money?
Who did the amex spots with the violinist and the people all shot from behind? That's not Ogilvy, is it?
Was laid off by D 2 years ago. Was reached for a position by a recruiter and have final rounds soon. Is this a joke, would they really hire me again? Note I was in Advisory new job is for Consulting.
EY 🐠, is it normal to have only 2 interviews and get an offer after a week? I have had 2 b2b interviews in one day, both went great with a SM and M. I think I am fairly under qualified for the position but received an offer. Any thoughts on lack of communication with the recruiter, yet receiving an offer? If anyone is willing to DM I can provide more details and seek further feedback
Any day traders in this bowl? Could you share your experience, I’d like to start learning part time and eventually exit to it full time
Did kick counting drive anyone else crazy?? 30 weeks and just had to eat sugar, drink a cold drink , and do jumping jacks in an attempt to get some kicks. This is going to drive me crazy but not sure if I should be concerned if baby is having a lazy day
PSA - those who are so close to Marriott lifetime platinum elite should work on getting the status by end of year. If you do this you will be grandfathered into lifetime platinum premier
Are people still seeing these fully remote positions in Big Law available/people joining your firm through them? I saw many in the spring, but not sure now that we are closer to September.
Applied for H1B transfer on April 29th in premium and an RFE has been issued even in these critical times. Just thought of sharing it with 🐠 here!
Just got told by managers that my performance hasn't met their expectations. High performer last year. Am I getting fired?
Our company has told us we can’t expense dinners delivered when working late at home for tax reasons. Has anyone else encountered this? Is it accurate?
What’s big law like in San Francisco? Anyone have any insights to firm cultures or billable targets?
When I know that I can expense the airplane wi-fi but never have and assume it's out of policy so I don't have to be bothered for two hours...
On the Plane Train at ATL airport, "Next stop is for D gates, D as in demon"...uhhhh what?!
Which consulting firm is leading the way in knowledge management (storing deliverables and indexing them so that you don’t have to recreate the wheel with every proposal)? I hear the McK requires project teams (chargeable time) to take a week break after engagement to store and index deliverables for future use.
My interview for an internship lasted over an hour. Good or bad sign? It was more of a conversation than anything...
Currently a first year senior in regional firm. I just got off the phone with a recruiter at big 4 and they want to offer experienced staff position with almost $10k lower salary. Any thoughts?
