Starting a job as a Senior Accountant next month. How long should I be looking to become manager? Salary increases? Just curious after a conversation I’ve had with a recruiter. I don’t know much about industry promotions.
I’m interviewing for a role that is open to both remote and in-person (when it’s safe) work. Should I give salary expectations based on cost of living in the city where the office is located or based on where I’d live working remotely? Cost of living in the office location is a lot higher than where I’d live but since they are also considering in-person candidates, I know the budget is there.
Hi! This might be a long shot question, but is anyone familiar with the salary band for a G12 Sr. Marketing Manager at Cisco? Thanks.
Trying to figure out my freelance project rate for work with an agency. I know at my level, if I was a FTE, my rate would be between $300-$325 an hour at this agency, so am trying to translate that into a reasonable freelance hourly rate to then create a project estimate off of based on estimated hours. Am wondering how much agencies typically mark up freelancer costs when billing clients? Thanks in advance!

I’m eligible for 401k %match from my employer on aug 1 2021. The max total amount I could get from them for 2021 is ~$420. I plan on maxing out & my 401k has an aggressive strategy. Would you wait to contribute until later in the year in order to maximize the match, or invest early in the year for the compound interest gains? Am I wrong to think the latter?
Long shot, but anyone have any thoughts about McDonald’s legal department in Chicago? Culture, compensation, opportunities for advancement, etc…
Colleague gets a job at Foley & Lardner and is told months after starting that he needs to bill 200 more hours for his practice group than what the firm requires. He wasn't told during interviews. He barely made the time. I now may have the opportunity to lateral and I'm worried that may happen to me (different practice group). How do I ask? And, is this common at @foleyandlardner? What the heck?
I worked at an agency where the CEO actually pushed back all small projects from the client because it was too taxing on their staff. I applaud this loudly as it's been getting out of hand and there is so much turnover at agencies. Has anyone else seen C Levels push back on their client(s) for the health of the agency and it's employees?
What are some signs that it’s time to move on to a new job/ career path? I’m not looking at promotion for realistically another 2 years, same timing for pay raise. On a long term project so I’m locked in for another 2 years at least doing the same thing so not learning nearly like I was when first joining consulting. I’m starting to lose sight of my overall goals and what’s the point of doing all this. Please help!
