Hi fishes, I joined early of June in NTT DATA as a senior software developer. After few internal project interviews I been selected very soon into one project. Laptop was delivered to my home address but no work assigned. I asked multiple times my manager to raise a ticket to install required software like visual studio. Manager said I'll raise ticket but I think she didn't raised. It's been 1 Month no one is assigning work. How should I do. Should I enjoy my free time or should I ask my mana ½

Guys, as you know I will be taking over x when she goes on maternity leave, so please attach me to all relevant emails so I can catch up and know what’s going on.
Sometimes I'm a bit more blunt than I probably should be, but I've found that as long as I'm genuine in discussions like this, I'm received well. I would go directly to the manager and express that you feel left out of important decisions and you would appreciate it if she could help advocate your inclusion with the rest of the team. You could also suggest setting up a team email which includes EVERYONE from the team, and have it be discussed that all emails be sent to the entire team, even if they don't seem to be relevant information.
At the end of the day, what you might see as relevant might seem trivial to the other members because you are coming into an established team. That is a hard position to be in and it's easy to perceive that you're on the outside when they probably just haven't built those team bonds with you. If that makes sense. Are you able to meet with them for a happy hour? Maybe let them get to know you better and have a bonding experience to bring you into the team folds? A lunch or another opportunity works too, but I find that alcohol helps everyone loosen up.
but i was mainly brought on because a team lead is heading out on maternity leave soon. i am often left out of email discussions by the person who brought me to the team and then it is forwarded to me. i am very offended and i want to bring it up in a non emotional assertive way. what is the best way to phrase it?
i was under the impression that the person who brought me in to be a team lead is my advocate but her behavior feels weird to me. i am at a consultant level and she is a manager. what is the best way to raise this?
Thank you so much both of you! this is very helpful!
Don’t make a big deal out of and just casually say “hey will you please cc me on all emails...”. Sometimes I forget and a friendly reminder may help us. Good luck
