What is a reasonable amount of total compensation to expect if taking a Senior Associate position in PE?

Can someone explain to me what the big whoop is about working in IB? Hours seem nuts from what I read in the bowls. What am I missing? Is it the pay?

What’s the base for CL8 (CDO)? Glassdoor doesn’t seem accurate, as it pegs CL8 at 56k. Currently a CL9, on 52.5 in London. Promoted from CL10 last year too, so still a fairly new CL9.
