What is a useful, comprehensive but not too long of a book for parenting toddlers?

LO is 16 months old, very sweet and social, at the park every day with other kids with either me or her nanny. Not in day care. Yesterday we had a play date and she slapped another baby on the head. Not hard and did not scare her, but the act of “aggression” took me by surprise and I felt terrible about it. I’d like to be more proactive about toddler psychology, what’s to come and how to react/ teach. TY!

Texas is coined a football powerhouse, but I’m having a hard time finding teams/events for my elementary school student. Can anyone point me in the right direction in the loop or in the Galleria area? Bonus points for facilities/areas in the loop where Black boys and men play/gather. I’d love my son to have that sense of community as he’s the only Black kid in his class, and we haven’t met many Black families at the closest local park to us. Black is not a deal breaker though! My baby daughter is almost 1 and I’m looking to stop breastfeeding and wean to cows milk soon. She has had very few bottles in the past 12 months (combo of Covid + she rejected bottles for several months) so we’ve primarily been nursing. I’m looking for weaning tips from parents in a similar situation. Seems like most methods involve combo of breast milk + cows milk in a bottle but that doesn’t really work for us since I haven’t pumped since like November!

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?

Hello All, I am working as business/product/data analyst for about 5 years now and thinking about transitioning into DS role. If I want to target one essential skill to learn this year, what would that be? Just like SQL and Excel would be essential skill for Data Analysis.

Have to plan for childcare for when I have to return to work after my first child (we get 12 weeks). Did you hire a live in, someone come to house daily or did you bring to a daycare? How much did you pay and where do you live? Am trying to figure out how much good child care will run me.

Working moms, why are we not accommodated FULLY for nursing breaks? My last employer allowed break accommodations for me to nurse my child, but my current employer does not. How do y’all keep track of schedules? I like using outlook for work and personal (including kids) because I can color code items and mark as not busy or private and I have it up on a big screen all day. However I have 4 kids and the summer schedule is packed with summer camps and activities. It is making my work calendar look very congested. I’m fine with it from my view but (cont’d)

Moms who WFH - does your nanny bring their own lunch or expect to eat whatever is in your fridge?

Does anyone else hate cleaning and laundry? I feel like I’m constantly cooking for or cleaning up after my kids (and myself). And I truly despise this part of life, but it gives me anxiety to have a messy house. But it’s constant. Please send tips to change my attitude/mindset or tell me this gets better when my kids are older or something. Ahh.
