I mean cybersecurity has been in the news headlines the past few months and it will only continue. If you’re interested in Cyber I think it’s a great place to be.
In terms of comparing to soft eng roles, they are so different. If you want to be coding and developing 40 hrs a week do that. Cyber has a ton of opps both technical and more strategic. Salary grows quite a bit once you get to higher levels as well. You also always have the op to switch into cyber/tech sales if you wanted.
Past few months? Where have you been for the last 10 years? Lol
Software engineers make more at first but you will catch up to them overtime if you stick with it and get promoted etc.
I’m not the best person to answer that question but there is a thing called product security management that you may want to look into.
You can also make 130k + by switching firms after a few years.
Cybersecurity isn’t going anywhere.. it’s needed now more than ever. As the technology landscape evolves, hackers/criminals also evolve, which opens the door for more opportunities.
To add some background: I have technical experience , a few AWS certs, and (non work) experience with programming languages
I’m a Senior Cybersecurity Consultant and I honestly think I could get 130 right now by switching firms. I’m pretty close to that now in my current company.
Pick up some software engineering/coding skills and break into application/product security. Just hit my 3 YOE and am 125K + 20% annual bonus right now. But it’s constant learning basically weekly if not daily really
Cloud security is a very good field as well. It’s high paying and looks to have huge growth potential
2.5 YOE and have 135k base, 155k TC so plenty of growth in security
