Respecting our time by having a meeting agenda and purpose/outcome - not doing power play or bottle neck meetings. Also, if they can be on time or cancel more than a few minutes in advance that’s another sign of respect in pandemic tines. I’d love to always leave with an an action point in each meeting otherwise why was I invited?!
I can tell you what bad leadership is. My boss rarely checks in on the team outside of a weekly meeting that they sit and do work through. They’ve turned off their chat alerts and tell us to text them if we need anything, then don’t respond to our texts. So I’d imagine good leadership would be the exact opposite of what I’ve outlined. But I will say that the team has bonded and communicated more than ever during this time because of the lack of leadership.
The SHEER amount of times my team lead cancels/reschedules meetings last minute is getting on everyone’s nerves. Like once or twice a month sure, some things come up that can’t be avoided but like twice a week is ridiculous, especially if it involves people from other teams and offices.
My boss' general philosophy for the years I've worked for him has been "if you aren't hearing from me you're doing a good job." I've told him I appreciate not being micro-managed but the sheer degree of absence doesn't work for me.....and everything in this dynamic has been exacerbated by Covid.

Agreed. Same here. Would be nice for maybe a few check ins. Just to see how we’re doing. 🤷♂️ I go weeks or longer without hearing from my boss.
Our boss check-ins on us, takes care of us in small but so important ways, like remembering our birthday or the name of our kids, being there for us and always keen to jump in to help and answers very quickly to our questions. We feel that our boss cares, and we feel like giving everything we have. Not for the network. But for this single person who makes us feel like we belong.
I hope I’m doing a good job, but some things we’ve put in place include: • no Teams chat / emails will be answered before 9 am and after 6 pm (if you’re still working during those non-work times, they should be uninterrupted so you can actually work) • lunch is sacred (noon-1 pm is now a no meeting zone and is blocked on everyone’s calendars) • no meetings on Fridays
Not forcing people to have their dumb cameras on all the time.
I turn mine off during screenshare lol
Kindness, empathy, patience.
Having our CEO hold regular coffee chats - open to all employees - to check in, see faces, laugh and share. ❤️
I’ll tell you what’s not good leadership...having a boss who wants to hold 2+ hour calls starting at 6pm after ignoring all your messages and questions throughout the day. And then having the audacity of holding daily morning statuses. You end up working 12+ hour days. It’s insane.
This is just insane. I feel for you. You must be everything but empowered. ☹️
(Sorry feeling salty heh but you get me)
Having several different underlings tell everyone several different things while you pose for photos with a hard on.
You take a mishmash of people, various relationships, and you help them all towards their joint and individual goals. That hasn't changed.
Being available for small questions throughout the day, having daily check ins (if needed), and giving a degree of autonomy/trusting you. ALSO respecting your time/being flexible
This is a great question. t feels like the teams are frustrated, anxious, stressed. Doesn’t help that everyone’s billed to the max to try and survive the downturn. Tough to navigate from a distance.
Making sure you’re heard and listening. I find it harder not to interrupt people.
