Also the job offers in industry you get now, you only get because you did consulting
^this guys knows what’s up. The exit op you take from consulting was only there because of consulting.
For me it’s twofold
1. I would probably get bored in industry; consulting allows me to constantly work with new companies and do new things
2. The salary in consulting for the area I’m in (taking bonus into account) is far higher than any industry role I’ve been offered
Also- people may be getting good offers in industry but is anyone getting the 10-20% raises we get in consulting? Genuine question but I most of my friends get 1-4%...
I got 11% at D (no promotion) which seemed kinda on the low end compared to peers
I'd take the industry at the good bump for a little while, get different experiences and skills, and leverage it to come back even higher in consulting
Huge potential upside if you ultimately become partner
Yeah take the offer if you don’t plan to be a partner
Upward growth. How many years in consulting will you match that offer? Then think also how long you may be stuck at that offer in industry. Compare which is better
I am still not earning the money in consulting that I can get in industry right now. 40% difference is looking big right now , if I do the calculations, in next 4 years I am still not a partner but salary disparity will increase to atleast 60%. Based on my knowledge, industry has higher bonus and other benefits.
