As a science teacher, I firmly believe this philosophy: curiosity/motivation is more important than grades/innate ability. For my kids who say they hate science or STEM, when I introduce them to the cool science jobs out there, they change their tune. https://www.instagram.com/p/CLCJpPsBCVD/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

In Texas, I make 57,500. I get paid bimonthly. My gross is 2100 and I bring home 1800 for each check. I love it.
I started at $39k and I think it was in the neighborhood of about 1200 to 1300 a pay period.
The 15th and the end of the month.
I make about 50k. We don’t have a union so no dues, and still on my parents insurance because I’m young (though in my district it’s cheap for a single person and would be maybe $30 a month), the biggest chunk goes to my pension (11% of my pay), and $50 a paycheck goes to a private retirement account. I also get paid less throughout the year and get a larger check for summer to survive.
So my monthly take home net pay is $2500
My summer amount to live on for 2.5 months is $5800
You can look up online what your income will be after taxes (I literally googled “Ohio tax income calculator” or something and it popped right up). Then, take out anywhere from $200-$300 for insurance for a single person (more for a family), subtract roughly $50 for union dues, and that should be a fairly accurate estimate.
Ok thank you!
In Ohio with STRS the like, the withdrawals equal 40% of my check. So I bring home 60%.
