What is reasonable late fee for late rent? I'm in FL and there's no laws re residential late fees on rent. Landlord wants 18% of rent as a late fee which is outrageous (comes out to $576)

You are paying 3,200 in rent as a Law associate?

Does your lease state a late fee? Agreed $576 is outrageous

like

A3, I have no issue with that and always pay on time. Just can't tie myself to $576

My lease says 5% on day 5 or later

like

Not me staring at this thread with my $1300 rent for a two bedroom townhouse and $75 late fee after ten days, in New England.

So not Boston 😆

I should also add there's another provision that states: "tenant shall pay any sales, use or similar tax that may be imposed by any governmental authority with respect to monies received by landlord from tenant under this lease." Never seen that before. Sounds like he wants me to pay taxes on the rent I gave him. Crossed that out too

Can we please discuss why in the world are you paying that much in rent in FL of all places

It's a very large 2/2.5 in Miami with prime location 🤷🏻‍♀️

The amount of people, even attorneys, who can't separate out the policy merits of abortion from the issue of whether it is a constitutional right is disappointing. I consider myself pro-choice ---I believe states should allow it, that the federal government can pass a statute to guarantee it, and that FDA statutes and regulations will preempt any state trying to ban chemical abortions through FDA approved drugs. Dobbs at its core is a case about the Due Process Clause, not the policy of abortion
