What is safer today? To be an office EA (WFH) or to work as an EA in a service center(virtual)?

Leaving KPMG is what’s safest.

@D1: CEO, COO, CFO, CIO, CMO, CTO, CSO, CHRO... Any role that starts with "Chief." Also can include President, Managing Director, Founder, Board Member and occaisionally Head, Partner or EVP, depending on the industry. Basically, the highest level of management at an organization.

Virtual but you will be paid much less. They code those roles to lower markets where the pay rate is significantly lower. Not a big deal if you're already in that market but could be problematic if you're an admin based out of a market such as SFO or NYC. A mid market salary while living in an expensive city such as NYC would not be a good match.

I think it's safest to support the most senior levels at a company. You generally make the best connections, and if your exec leaves, you generally have more interest from other people at the company to take you on. And if you have to look externally, having C-level experience is highly desirable.

like

C-Level as in having experience supporting people whose title begins with a C such as CEO, CFO, etc.

If you mean safer as in safe from losing your job — I don’t think one is safer than the other. Right now, “safer” depends on a lot of factors.

like

Virtual EA. They're cheaper to hire since they make less than a market EA.

like

That's what I thought too. We earn way less than local/office EAs.

like

Virtual EA

Both are virtual so I dont know what you mean.

I would think virtual. The purpose of the office EA is to have people on-site, which we can’t do right now.

I know we all love the work from home (or do we?) but does anyone actually miss traveling for their consulting engagements and all the fun that goes along with it? The late nights at the office then the bar and random hookups and excitement and all that? Sure it’s a grind but I think I actually miss it too. Maybe I just miss seeing people at work or seeing people at all. I wonder if we’ll ever get back to that.

Any recs for a semi-affordable, last minute get away? I’m still 100% remote, I’m burned out & I need a change of scenery for a few days. I’d plan to go for a long weekend & then work remotely for part & take part completely off.

Hi 🐠, need some advice. Was told by my manager that time doing research (for info related to my client) is not client billable and has to be charged to the overhead code. This strikes me as fundamentally wrong, esp bc this is a flat rate project so the hours will just affect my utilization / internal metrics, not how much the client is billed. I asked for a non-billable code that counts towards utilization but was told my utilization is fine even though I’d be billing <40hrs & to use OH code
