Their citizens aren't idiots who have a problem with authority
Social distancing is a lifestyle in Scandinavia
Wow there’s a whole series of these
Because they will actually follow the rules unlike the US.
Rising Star
Everyone is working from home
(Internet infrastructure is solid for majority)
Schools have stayed open throughout
No one wears a mask
People are relatively good about the 2m rule
Bars and restaurants that don’t enforce the 2m rule get shut down
No gatherings of more than 50 people
Many Elderly at rest homes died
It’s ➡️spring➡️summer
Not sure if that helps you compare somewhat

No worries, good luck in the US.
I think keeping the schools open was a big factor - it allowed parents to carry on and work from home.
If my kids had have been home this whole time I would have gone mental.

It also helps if your country’s population is smaller than Ohio ..
We do much more testing then the rest of the world. That’s why countries like Sweden don’t have as many cases as we do. We need to slow down the testing!

Touché. As usual, The Simpsons did it first like 20 years ago. Trump people are like the scene where Jimbo the bully and his friends are like “wait, are we being sarcastic or do we really mean that?” And Jimbo replies “I don’t even know anymore.” At first they just started saying outrageous shot because it got them the attention they wanted, and then somehow a flip just switched in heir heads and they either actually started to believe their own BS, or lost the ability to discern the difference. Really, really sad IMO.
in US we get into each other's face, in Sweden they stay away. totally cultural differences
Not that it’s a good situation because the death rate is significantly higher compared to the countries around it, but they’re only at 70k cases which seems low given everything is essentially open
Pro
How’s 70k vs. their population?
There’s also a network effect which increased exponentially and not linearly.
Pro
Population is also less dense
Chief
Not sure about that. Americans are some of the densest people in the world. Many are just total idiots.
As a Nordic, other than WfH my lifestyle has hardly changed. The fields / forests I go to walk in are as empty as ever and there are never crowds to begin with. The population sinply lives much more sparsely both on a micro- and macro scale. Fwiw, I live in a large-ish city.
My favourite example is just going to a grocery store: in all London shops there are people you have to walk past and a queue for the check-out. In my home country it's common to be the only person in the store, there being no need to intersect with people, and no queues for the lone cashier in the building.
Also Swedish population is generally healthier (fewer preexisting conditions) and less diverse. Better food, cleaner air and water, good healthcare.
