What is the 401k match like at your firm?

A few years ago, firm I left did 150% match up to 6% of salary (a/k/a 9% match if you put 6% in). Vested after 3 years. They had discretionary up to 5% profit share on top of that the whole time. We always hit 11-12% employer contribution (7+ year period).

50% Match up to IRS Limit. Match is paid out per paycheck and vests immediately from Day 1. I know a few people that put 75% of their paycheck in January to get the match then leave in February when switching firms given no vesting period.

At D, it’s $0.25 per dollar on the first 6%

Pensions grow at only 3.5%. The same money can grow much faster when invested in equity funds. I would prefer that Deloitte stop the pension and rather do full 401k match.

Double match on first 5% (ie, you contribute 5 and employer contributes 10). Immediate vesting, contributions deposited every pay check.

11.5%, 5 year vesting, every level (I think there’s a cap for principals and partners though). Structured as 10% profit sharing plus 25% match up to 6%.

I think it's 50% match up to 6%...

like

6% starting 1/1 or 7/1, whichever one comes first, after your one year mark

2 year anniversary of your start date

like

6% match, no vesting period however the firm contributions are done once a year in Jan

like

Same for Arthur D. Little

$.25 per dollar for the first 6%, but you can get it in both traditional and Roth 401(k), so it ends up being $.25 per dollar for the first 12%.

Oooo smart

200% of first 3%. No vesting period

I think capital one

There is profit sharing which turns out to be more than a match

One thing I never understood, why is the employee match limit so much higher than your personal limit? Individuals are limited to 19.5K but employers can contribute as much as 57K. What’s the rationale?

like

Wow - I didn’t even know that part about multiple employers.

25% match for up to 5% of salary. So effectively 1.25% match. We just had 50% cut, previously it was 2.5%

likefunny

Still the same unfortunately

50% of every dollar up to the max (from day 1)

like

Previous employer in industry had 40% match uncapped RIP

like

Yeah. Honestly it sounds better than it actually was. If you made less money and could afford to max your 401k, you could come out pretty far ahead. But once you started making over $140k or so, it would be less than a 5-6% match.

like

6% dollar for dollar every pay period up until 5k. Which is fair, given the generous bonus and RSUs (nice but not as generous as Google and Facebook)

like

6% match at UBS, but vests after 3 years

Hey UBS1, I’m interested in your bank and have couple questions. can I DM you?

I have an issue: just been informed by compliance I have a violation. Using a brokerage restricted and at this point I am at a loss. I sold off all my stock just to comply. Then put the only stock I kept with the broker, the other one is my wife’s employer 401k savings broker. The instructions say they will reach me within 90 days for next steps. It also says there may be financial penalties. What should I do? I replied the email immediately asking for help. I am a new to Deloitte and the US

Tinfoil hat theory of the day: Americans (including me) are disregarding lockdowns because they are genuinely more happy working from home and have more personal time then when they spend 60 hours a week trapped in an office with people they don’t like. Americans are overworked and have subpar benefits compared to developed countries and finally got a taste of what personal life and family life is and they don’t care if things go back to normal.

I just found out I’m pregnant this morning. I have an offer for an in-house job which I’m thinking about to accept but they only provide 10 weeks maternity leave. My current firm offers 18 weeks. Should I stay for the maternity leave? I’m doing great in my current firm and received positive feedback in the performance review last week. But I know I’m going to move in-house eventually so I’m worried if I miss this opportunity it may not be easy for me to land another job.

Last year, My girlfriend was making 80k while I was making 200k so I took her out to dinners and took care of the groceries etc. Basically made sure it’s an equitable relationship. She got a new job this year and is now making 210k (more than me) but still expects me to pay for all the dinners and groceries. I’ve already talked to her about this but just resulted in argument. Is there any coming back from this situation to make this equitable relationship or is break up the only option here?

Filing fee is pretty expensive so just want to make sure it’s correct. Thanks!
