Currently in a slump from not having gotten promoted. Looking for stories or motivation to lean on to help me making some decisions - did you choose to stay and work your butt off for the next promotion cycle? Did you quit and find something better?
How do I know if leaving consulting would be right for me? I’ve been thinking about it for the past year. I feel very unfulfilled and unappreciated. I tried to brace through till next promo - which I ended up being passed over for last Dec. I’ve started looking into other lines of work that may be more rewarding for me, but I can’t seem to make the leap. Mainly, I feel reticent on letting go of the prestige that comes with consulting, and that maybe I should hold out for the promotion.

Hi 🐠, I am thinking about starting to get a tax accountant. My taxes were pretty easy and as a CPA (business not tax) I could get away with doing my own taxes through TurboTax. My income is starting to diversify with several side hustles growing. Typically would be 0 income because I could find ways to expense it to 0, but with the pandemic our spending has severely decreased. Does anyone use an accountant to do their taxes/tax planning, is it worth it?
Do recruiters or interviewers typically outright ask where else you are interviewing? Or is that out of the norm?
So in desperation I applied for a job and if I get it, I might not be able to leave my current job as soon as I thought due to visa restrictions. Any chance they'd be will to wait 6 months? I doubt it but wonder if anyone's had to push a start date out that far?
If you’re on Coinbase, I’d recommend getting of it. I’m a victim of fraud and have had no luck contacting customer support for days. While I love crypto, this notion itself is a huge W for banks.
Hi folks! I need some advice with regards to my career path. I did my MBA in finance in 2020. I had my career path figured out but due to the pandemic I couldn't start my job in the finance role that I was placed in. From January I have been working as a research analyst in a research company. What are the possible options for me going forward. Are there any courses for strategic consultancy which I could pursue to enhance my CV and have a successful career in this field? Need some guidance.
Illness advice needed - I have IBS which has gotten worse in the past year. WFH has been a blessing, sometimes I’ll need to make it to a bathroom within 30s-1m or have an accident. I’m not sure if I can manage working in person with how my condition has worsened. Q1: Does anyone live with IBS and how do you manage? Q2: Should I turn my full-attention to looking for a remote-only job?
I’m so confused. I tried to have a conversation with my manager regarding taking on more responsibility and getting a promotion and he basically shot it down and said we all have the same objectives. Just giving you more responsibility does not mean you’re growing more. We all do the same job in the investment process. I’ve never felt more gaslighted or more discouraged after a promotion conversation. Is this a common experience ?
