Hi fishes,
I interviewed with Siemens Energy for SAP ABAP position on 21st Jan. The interview went on for about an hour and in the end, the interviewer asked my expected ctc and wanted assurance if I won't negotiate on Siemens offer with some other company as i am currently serving notice period and join Siemens if provided an offer.
Till now , the HR team has not reached out to me for salary discussions and my LWD is 7th Feb. Can i expect a call or i got rejected ?Siemens

What’s comfortably? People live comfortably in LA on $60k... and struggle on $200k
Just like a data scientist to want the function without establishing any sensitivities
Run a regression model.
Try lasso regression followed by structural equations modeling for the sake of fun.
Thx! Lol. Comfortably = afford mortgage and live in happy life without worrying about debts and not worrying about not making enough to support family.
You need at least 425k to live comfortably unless you have school loans then add another 75K

300k TC if you have a family (solidly middle class). How long it will take largely depends on you. Someone working in a growing tech company could probably get there within ~5 years with the right skills, but usually those people are/were also part time faculty working on research and have a lot of other credentials. Also depends on what kind of data scientist you are, doing research for products like Oculus or just running some regression or classification models to try to engage people to watch ads for 10 seconds longer lol
Second year out of school, no masters, no debt, work in DS, $105k affords me a pretty nice penthouse studio in SF ($1,900/mo).
(Edit - yeah need a lot more to buy a house)
@D1 that seems like half the going rate for rent. What neighborhood and sq ft?
Take your current salary and double it. That is what it will take to live at the same level you are now. Great friend is in the film industry at more than $350k a year in LA and he has room mayes
