Near the convention center
Georgetown if you want to be a tourist, though. It not super close to the main attractions in terms of walking. SW wharf or near Mandarin Oriental if you want to be near main some attractions and some coffee/restaurants. DuPont if you want to be near coffee shops and restaurants. It’s all easily accessible by scooter, cab, bike, subway, and bus if your in DC proper.
Dupont Circle/Kalorama might be the best balance.
If you don’t know already, the “main attractions” of DC are in/around the national mall. But given the number of government buildings it’s very quiet on weekends/evenings and people don’t live there.
So you have to find a place that’s not too far but still offers a good vibe. Also consider City Center/Penn Quarter/Chinatown, but some may feel it’s too lively or too commercial.
Anywhere near the Convention Center or City Center. It’s in downtown DC and walk to anywhere you want to go. If that’s expensive, Rhode Island Ave has a few hotels.
Georgetown is a cute area with everything you need
Dupoint for sure, but I actually stayed around Adams Morgan when I first got to DC and loved it
