Personally, I would go to a vacuum store to figure out the best for you. At the store I use, they say Dyson has marketing $$$ to spend and name recognition, but absolutely not the best value for long lasting use. I have a Miele and think it is amazing. Not cordless, but super powerful ajd built to last 20+ years.
I got the V8 during the target sale earlier this month for $279 & it is life changing. I did my research & any negatives re: battery life come from people using it on the “max” setting but Dyson only recommends that in certain situations.
Also FWIW - mine came missing the narrow extender (meant for hard to reach corners) & the help line was so nice & great. They wound up sending me the $69 piece instead of the $19 piece. My new attachment even lights up 😂

I have a V8 & V11. V11 has a longer battery life. No regrets with either.
The kind that plugs in.
DO NOT I REPATE DO NOT BUY A DYSON! I implore you to look at other options. Dyson isn’t that bad so long as you don’t mind cleaning every nook and cranny dust gets EVERYWHERE inside the machine. If Dyson still made the big ball cinetic (5yr warranty) I’d select that one no filters to wash or change but still dust eventually accumulates in the machine and it becomes caked within. I’d go for a Miele or sebo canister let your heart guide you if you follow your heart anything can come true
I have the V8 for about a year now, live in a 700sqft condo and it’s perfect for it. Any bigger place you would want the v11
I have the v8 as well with a 760 sqft apartment. Can get through the whole thing in one battery life on the max setting. If you have hardwood floor then I’d definitely recommend the hardwood attachment
I have the v12 and I really love it. I’m obsessed with the laser dust finder (that I initially thought was just a cheesy gimmick). I had been eyeing the Dyson’s for years and finally but the bullet this year and wish I had done it sooner.
I don’t, but I live in a one bedroom apartment, so I just empty it after each use. I could see if you lived in a much bigger space, that may become an issue, but it is extremely easy to empty!
Just buy one. Any of those cordless vacuums on display right now are AH-mazing. I own one and loooooooooove iiiitttttttt
Which model do you have?
Seconding others who tie model choice to apartment size. I had the v6 which lasts 20 minutes. Great for my 1 bed at the time but would be infuriating in a bigger place
I realize this is totally not your question - but we got a self emptying robot vac 2 years ago (shark brand) and it’s amazing. In a 2 bedroom condo so it may not be ideal for multi level living.
We have a combo of laminate and carpet and it adjusts fine and it even makes it over higher thresholds between rooms. If junk is on the floor it can get stuck (but it kinda works as a way to force us to pick up cords, etc.). It did get stuck on a bathroom bc it would push the door closed on itself, now we just put a door stop in front of that door and it’s fine (it only did this in one bathroom so I think it was just the dimensions of that room). We also have those old fashioned slinky door stops and once or twice that has hit the vac perfectly to knock the on off switch but that’s really rare.
It also can get under a lot of our furniture which is a huge help also.
I had a Dyson. It wasn't great. Now I have a Shark and can't recommend it enough.
I'm pretty sure they knock off Dyson's ideas, then make them better.
Really a shark those are made of paper and parts are hard to come buy maybe that’s all changed now
Just switched to Tineco pure s11 and loving it compared to my V8.
Thanks so much!
