What is the best next step after 1.5-2 years in audit? I want to make 100K+ in the next 1-2 years, I prefer working from home, prefer no travel requirements, working 40-45 hours a week is what I’m looking for. What about technical advisory? I already have my CPA license.

Lol this is the most millennial and Gen Z post. “Would like to make 100k by doing the bare minimum and nothing more, thanks”

My brother works in commercial banking making $350k working from home, traveling once a week, and working 40-45 hours. Don’t see how $100k would be out of the question.

internal audit

Thanks, a solid option. I kinda want to try something other than audit tho

like

My guy/gal has a lot of preferences. Technical accounting advisory checks all the boxed though specifically TAAG at EY. They probably work the least in advisory I’ve seen or internal audit

likehelpful

I also worked in TAAG in the past and it does not “check all of the boxes” or have the least hours in advisory. The target billable hours may be 45-55 throughout the year but that doesn’t mean you won’t work some 60 to 70 hour weeks (and work through firm holiday weeks) based on client demands / urgency.

Switch to consulting projects(though some periods may require more than 45+) or internal audit. I would probably stay away from financial reporting because of month end close processes which can increase your hours rapidly

like

Yes you can do it virtually, at least at EY the default is working remotely so I’m sure it’s similar at other places. I’m in internal audit in consulting but I don’t think I’ve ever charged more than 50 tbh

FDD will check most boxes except for the hours

like

Almost every post on fdd hours says the opposite. Fdd is on average way more hours than audit because your downtime in summer and lower staffing during planning and interim more than make up for the busy season craziness.

Hi all,
Please refer me for AI/ML engineer and Data analyst-Engineer post.

I'm looking forward to make a switch towards AI/ML and Data science field. I've an experience of 2.5 years in the field of industrial automation but I really think this field is outdated with no more exciting job opportunities. I really feel that I'm stuck here and I hope you can understand my situation.

I'm willing to work as a fresher if required, but I want to move on.

I was given a promotion 6mos ago & told that the position was a lateral move & a raise would be given at my 6 month mark. Throughout my time at time at this company I’ve realized that they call people in to give their raise on the exact date of milestones (i.e: 6 mos, 1yr, & so on). It’s now been one week since my 6 months in this new position. I’d like to reach out to my boss and set up a meeting to review my work & discuss a raise. Should I wait a bit longer or should I set this up now?

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to avoid entering your work history dates beyond 15 years on those online applications that will not submit unless you enter dates! I was advised by job experts not to include any jobs over 15 years, but that will limit me to two jobs which do not reflect my scope of experiences. I had no idea it would be this difficult returning to work after retirement. Thank you in advance for any help in this area.

The whole point of me switching career to obtain an IT degree is to be able to work remotely. I am currently working on a cybersecurity degree but my school also has a degree for cloud computing with 6 more cloud related certs. Don’t know if I should switch majors. The things that matter the most to me are the ability to work remotely, Pay, stress level , if I need to work on weekends( or wake up early to accommodate clients from another time zone) .
